Please join us for the next USA by the Bay Eastern Shore Speaker Series event to be held Thursday, June 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the University of South Alabama Baldwin County Campus in downtown Fairhope. Dr. Todd Andel, professor and dean of the School of Computing at the University of South Alabama, will present a talk titled "AI at the Crossroads: Unleashing Generative Power While Safeguarding Our Digital World."  This event is free and open to the public. A reception will be held after the talk. Seating is limited and online registration is required at southalabama.edu/speakerseries During the talk, Andel will introduce the exciting advancements of generative artificial intelligence, showcasing its transformative power from artistic creation to scientific discovery. This cruise takes guests out into the headwaters of Mobile Bay for a stunning view of Mobile's 4th of July fireworks display. We depart from the Blakeley Dock (34745 State Hwy. 225, Spanish Fort) at 7:45 PM- (just in time to catch a summer sunset) for a relaxing evening voyage capped off by one of the largest displays of fireworks in the region. We return to the dock by 10:45 PM.

This cruise winds through the scenic delta and down the historic Mobile River for a relaxing voyage through the Port of Mobile. Along the way on this three-hour excursion, we explore one of the nation's busiest harbors. Guests will enjoy a rare waterfront view of all the activity at the state docks and within the larger port, then return along the head of Mobile Bay. Experience it all from the comfort of the Delta Explorer. The U.S. Coast Guard-licensed covered boat features bench seating and a restroom facility and is handicapped accessible.

The last known ship to bring enslaved Africans into America, the Clotilda rests in the waters of the Mobile River north of the city. Come along with us as we make our way to this historic site and explore this somber but pivotal saga in local history with national significance. This special tour to the wreck site will be guided by our partners from Africa Town Freedom Tours, a group comprised of descendants of Clotilda passengers, storytellers, and community leaders in Africatown dedicated to sharing this important story. It will provide information on the voyage of the Clotilda, its passengers and their lives, and the enduring legacy of that fateful voyage by telling their stories.
