Each spring, the Baldwin County community gathers on Belrose Avenue in Olde Towne Daphne for a unique test of endurance, shared resolve, and purpose. Ballin’ on Belrose returns for its fifth year on May 16, 2026—bigger, bolder, and with even more impact. Inspired by the 29029 Everest Challenge, where participants climb the equivalent elevation of Mount Everest, Ballin’ on Belrose brings that same spirit to Baldwin County. While there are no mountains locally, the event centers around a demanding half-mile hill on Belrose Avenue. Participants complete 11 climbs—totaling 10.5 miles—to match the height of Everest, all within a three-hour time limit. The fastest recorded time to complete the challenge is approximately one hour and ten minutes. Hosted by 68 Ventures, the Cox Family Foundation, Press & Co., and the City of Daphne, the event is rooted in the guiding principle of Luke 12:48: “To whom much is given, much is required.” This belief drives the mission behind Ballin’ on Belrose—to leverage resources, create impact, and bring people together for something bigger than themselves. “Ballin’ on Belrose is a reflection of what can happen when a community decides to show up for something bigger than itself,” said Nathan Cox. “We’ve been blessed in ways we don’t deserve, and this event is one way we try to steward that well—by creating opportunities to give back, to serve others, and to make a real difference in the lives of families who need it most. This year, we’re raising the ante because we believe the impact can and should be even greater.” Growing Impact The 2025 event delivered record-breaking results: 400+ participants 90 sponsors $259,000+ raised Building on that momentum, 68 Ventures is aiming even higher in 2026. Proceeds from Ballin’ on Belrose support the Baller Dream Foundation, which provides life-changing experiences for children and young adults battling cancer. In addition, the event’s Nonprofit Challenge invites organizations across Baldwin County to rally their communities and compete based on participation. We recently held our first evening meeting in Spanish Fort, and it was a great success. We are excited to continue these meetings to allow members and prospective members in the northern part of the Eastern Shore to attend a meeting close to home and to allow individuals whose schedule conflicts with our lunch meeting to attend meetings.   Our speaker for the July evening meeting has spent almost his entire life in Baldwin County-creating personal ties that inspired a career of service to the community he grew up loving. Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack is currently serving in his 5th term as Baldwin County Sheriff. Over his last 18 years in office, he has proven his integrity, dedication and devotion to the community that elected him. Continually serving his community, Sheriff Mack has held office in the Robertsdale Rotary Club as well as the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, and he has sat on the boards of the Baldwin County Economic Alliance and Boy Scouts of America. He has also been recognized for his service with a number of awards.

This exclusive gallery-style event showcases the work of accomplished local artists, offering the opportunitiy to mee the creators and hear stories behind their work.  Teresa Machie, the featured artist, is a lanscape Plein Air painter and still-life studio painter. Drawing inspiration from the beautiful Alabama coastline as well as towns and coastlines of New England. After a successful career in graphic design, she now pursues painting full-time while spending her Spring in the Ozarks studying with 75 of some of the world's top Plein Air artists. William Bartram, America’s most famed naturalist, visited what is now Alabama in the summer and fall of 1775 during a four-year odyssey of discovery through the American South. The landscapes, plants, animals, and people he encountered were truly remarkable, and he was particularly impressed with what he found in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. In 1791 he published a book, commonly called Travels, that recounts his adventure. Through detailed descriptions and colorful prose, Bartram’s work opens a vibrant window into a world that may seem quite alien to us today, but one which you can glimpse if you’re looking in the right places! During a two-hour cruise along the waters of the tranquil Tensaw River retracing a portion of Bartram’s route and in a short free presentation afterwards, Brian Rushing, a Bartram “enthusiast,” will introduce you to this colorful character. Along the way we’ll discover the wonderful things he saw and experienced while on his journey, and his incredible contributions to biology, history, and literature. Participants will come away with an appreciation for not only Bartram as a scientist and an artist, but of the landscapes and Indigenous People that once existed in what we now call “Alabama.”

Guided instruction in the ancient Chinese healing practice of Qigong, an ancestor of Tai Chi. This exercise combines slow, low-impact, methodical movement with deep breathing and visualization. It is believed it helps in improving health by lowering stress, cholesterol, and blood pressure, assists in managing a variety chronic conditions, and strengthens the immune system. Optional group hike after class. Our instructor, Annie Allen, is a certified Yoga/Qigong instructor who has been teaching people this practice for over a dozen years. She teaches this technique for the Baldwin County High Football team and serves as a Business Education teacher for the school. She is also a Spanish Court interpreter.
