He isparticularly interested in African-American history environmental history,labor history, and urban history in the American South. His book project exploresthe intersection of movements in urban development and protest movements in theurban South. As part of his presentation, Dr. Cameron will present a commentaryhighlighting the history of Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) from 1955 to1965.   Mr.Fred Zachary has distinguished himself in the Gadsden/Etowah County areathrough his philanthropic, entrepreneurial, and passionate articulation ofsocial justice priorities, including a sense of urgency regarding our youth.His presentation will include compelling history of Carver High School, once apremier institution that produced prominent and impactful graduates in a myriadof concerns.   Forover 20 years, Ms. Theresa Beverly has dedicated herself as the owner andpublisher of the esteemed Reporter Monthly Newspaper in Gadsden, Alabama,Etowah County. Her unwavering commitment to local journalism and communityengagement has made her an influential voice in the region. Through thenewspaper, she consistently delivers valuable news and information, fostering asense of connectivity among readers. Her presentation will includerecollections of facing adversity and resistance as a black female owner andpublisher of the reporter monthly newspaper.   Ourcelebrated Soul Food Contest is back!  Choose your best and favorite dish to enterfrom these four categories: meat, vegetables, breads, and desserts.
