Meet Your InstructorRebecca Turk, Vice President of Learning and Public Engagement at Huntsville Botanical GardenRebecca holds a Master of Science degree in Horticulture from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Stephen F. Austin State University, both with heavy soils and soilless substrate emphasis. She discovered her passion for public horticulture and teaching through her mom and her various employments at the SFA Mast Arboretum, “Nacogdoches Naturally” Education Program, Missouri Botanical Garden, JC Raulston Arboretum, and Moore Farms Botanical Garden. She has a strong passion for educating the community, leadership, public horticulture, and sharing her love for the outdoors while teaching. She and her husband Christopher love their shared interest of horticulture and enjoy every moment outside with their sweet daughters Emilia and Ila.

Register Here!An Up-Close Look at Summer’s Most Stunning Water Lilies.Join us for an engaging look at the stunning water lilies blooming in the Damson Aquatic Garden this summer. Discover what makes these remarkable aquatic plants so unique as we share fascinating insights into their care, beauty, and seasonal highlights, followed by an opportunity for questions. Guided by HBG Horticulture Manager Max McKeown. Space is limited, and advance registration is required. Time: 10:00–11:00 a.m. Location: Meet at the Damson Aquatic Garden. Upon arrival, scan your membership card or check in at the Admissions Desk in the Propst Guest Center, then make your way to the Damson Aquatic Garden. The program begins promptly at 10:00 a.m., so we encourage you to arrive 5–10 minutes early to allow time to walk through the Garden. Please refer to the Garden map for directions. Where Memories Take FlightGuests of all ages will enjoy sharing in the magic of safely releasing live butterflies into the Purdy Butterfly House. Our release program begins with a brief presentation on butterflies and their habitat, followed by participation in the safe restoration of our indoor butterfly population. Don’t forget your camera, these photo opportunities are not to be missed! Butterfly Releases take place on select Saturdays throughout the May – September, and each program lasts approximately 30 minutes. Registration is required, and space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot today!
