(If no sessions are reserved, you may drop in for help.) Bring your own laptop, tablet, or smart phone, or, if unavailable, you can use a library laptop.

Read to a Dog is designed to allow young learners the chance to read to a non-judgmental listener, one who will accept the story exactly as it's read. For many children this allows them a rare chance to experience stress-free reading: they are able to relax and have fun while sharing a book. Come read to Danny, a two-year-old, 160-pound, smooth-coated Saint Bernard. Danny is a fan of people of all ages and sizes. And he is a good listener.

Read to a Dog gives kids the chance to read to a non-judgmental listener, one who will accept the story exactly as they read it. For many children, this allows them a rare chance to experience stress free reading. Being able to relax and have fun reading increases motivation to read, which is an essential element in becoming a successful reader. Come to Sahuarita Library and read to Molly and Grace. Molly is are eagerly waiting to meet you and see the world through the books you choose. She is a very good listener. How does Read to a Dog work? Kids come to library during Read to a Dog and select a book to read to a furry friend. All of the dogs and handlers who participate have been certified as therapy dogs by an accredited organization. COPE Community Services will be at the Sahuarita Library on the 2nd and 4th Friday (1-4:30 pm) to share information about the services they provide, including: Youth and Family Services - therapy, skills building, parenting classes, LGBTQ support, substance abuse counseling, case management, and medication assisted treatment. Behavioral Health - acupuncture, case management, court-ordered treatment, health education, housing, counseling, medication services, opioid treatment, recovery support, and residential services. Medical Services - chronic condition management, diagnosis and treatment of minor illnesses, vaccinations, preventive services, adult wellness screenings, and health education. Youth-focused programs in the Youth and Family Center - play and art therapy, anger management, grief and loss, trauma, substance abuse treatment, social skills, parenting skills, LGBTQ support, dropout retention, and relationship building.
