The ASVAB is an aptitude test that predicts students' potential for success in further education, training, and occupations focusing on skills (which are learned and modifiable) rather than on abilities (which are often seen as fixed). You can learn more about the ASVAB here. All juniors will take the ASVAB on the day of the test. Although the ASVAB was developed by the US Armed Forces, taking it does not obligate students to talk to a military recruiter or enlist in the military. Test scores are only released to the US Armed Forces with student and parent or guardian consent.

Students who turned in permission slips before this trip was rescheduled do not need to resubmit permission slips. Students will tour Rheem’s air conditioning division, including guided access to their HVAC laboratory, testing cells, model shops, and manufacturing facilities. Students will also have the chance to engage directly with their senior leaders, managers, and technicians—gaining firsthand insight into a wide range of career paths. This trip is limited to the first 30 students who register. We will keep a waitlist for the trip Lunch is provided at no cost to students.

Where do I register for the ACT? ACT registration must be completed at act.org.  The regular registration deadline for the February ACT is January 9. The late registration deadline is January 23. Late registration incurs additional fees. What is the ACT? The ACT is a college entrance exam that is used by most colleges and universities. It is used to measure high school students’ readiness for college-level classes. ACT is about what CONTENT students understand. It is different from the ACT Aspire and the test that replaced the ACT Aspire, the ATLAS test. When should my student take the ACT? That depends on your student. Eighth or 9th graders with the following characteristics should consider taking the ACT: Academically focused student with excellent grades who finds school easy Scores exceeding on all subjects on the ACT Aspire or ALTAS Is highly motivated to attend college It might be a good time for students to take the ACT if they have one or more of the characteristics above as long as they are comfortable making an average score for their grade. The median ACT score for a 9th grader is about a 15. We also require 10th graders who want to take Academic Concurrent Credit classes to have a qualifying ACT score to take those classes. Students must take the ACT in 9th grade to qualify for those courses with an ACT score. Juniors and seniors benefit from taking the ACT for academic scholarship consideration and for placement in college classes. How can I prepare for the ACT? Students also have FREE access to Methodize Test Prep through Xello. Find out how here. Can I register for FREE?
