Chen-style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is widely acknowledged as the ancestor of all other styles of Taijiquan. This class will introduce the Chen-style Taijiquan form, Silk-reeling Exercises and Wuji Qigong. The Chen-style Taijiquan form is soft and graceful with strong rooted stands that will help students to develop strength, balance, coordination and an understanding of basic Taiji principles. Silk-reeling Exercises are a series of spiral movements which promote muscle relaxation and flexibility by reducing physical tension and strain. Wuji Qigong (standing meditation) will help students to cultivate internal energy (qi) with proper body alignment for better internal energy flow, which will enhance their immune systems and reduce physical and mental stress. Registration is encouraged but not required.

During this fun and satisfying hour-long event, you will participate in activities that enhance learning skills, brain plasticity, and promote short-term memory all while connecting with others! Adapted from the classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen, this mesmerizing ballet about love, selflessness, and transformation follows a mermaid who longs to become human to be with the prince. The Academy of Ballet and Etiquette uses the stories of famous ballets to teach steps, technique, and manners to children aged 3-7. This active, 30-minute class involves full-body storytelling, bursts of focus, strong class manners and movement to engage children with classical music and culture! The program will end with formal bows and a puppet story of the ballet with a review and reward.
