Chen-style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is widely acknowledged as the ancestor of all other styles of Taijiquan. This class will introduce the Chen-style Taijiquan form, Silk-reeling Exercises and Wuji Qigong. The Chen-style Taijiquan form is soft and graceful with strong rooted stands that will help students to develop strength, balance, coordination and an understanding of basic Taiji principles. Silk-reeling Exercises are a series of spiral movements that promote muscle relaxation and flexibility by reducing physical tension and strain. Wuji Qigong (standing meditation) will help students cultivate internal energy (qi) with proper body alignment for better internal energy flow which will enhance their immune systems, and reduce physical and mental stress.  Space is limited. First come, first served.

Join us on Thursday evenings in August for a fun, hands-on introduction to coding with Scratch! In this 4-week class, kids will learn the basics of programming in Scratch, complete fun activities, and build simple stories, animations, and games as mini-projects. No experience needed, but the content builds each week, so please plan to attend all four sessions to get the most out of this series! All materials will be provided. August 7: Intro to Scratch - In Week 1, you'll learn that programming means giving step-by-step instructions to a computer and learn how to navigate Scratch. Concepts discussed include sequencing, events, motion, and looks. Activities include a tour of Scratch, making your sprite do some basic actions, and completing a mini project (animated name or character intro). August 14: Making Things Happen - In Week 2, you'll understand how to repeat actions and create animation. Concepts discussed include loops, timing, and sound. Activities include making a sprite dance or bounce, using loops to animate movement, and completing a mini project (dance party or bouncing ball game).  August 21: Loops and Conditionals - In Week 3, you'll learn how programs can make decisions and keep track of information. Concepts discussed include conditionals, sensing, and variables. Activities include making a sprite react to touching the edge or key presses and adding a score. August 28: Final Project - In Week 4, you'll understand how to repeat actions and create animation. We'll review previous concepts, learn how to add custom backgrounds, sprites, and effects, and you'll build your own final project - a game, animation, or interactive story.

We're inviting all knitters, aspiring or experts, to join the Knitting Circle! The Knitting Circle meets in person at the Foster City Library as well as through Zoom every second and fourth Friday of the month, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Bring your current knitting project to unwind, socialize, troubleshoot and cast on! We will also have simple knit-alongs, where all knitters work on the same project! While this is not a formal instructional class, Knitting Circle members collaborate together to work on basic knitting skills so we can confidently knit, purl, cast on and bind off. Design, carve, and print your own artwork using rubber blocks and traditional block printing techniques. All materials provided, including carving tools, ink, and paper. Choose from sample images or create your own. Each participant will receive one block (suitable for 1–2 designs) and can make 2–4 prints. The workshop length is 1.5 hours. Ages 8+ For safety, participants must follow carving guidelines and use tools at their own risk. Diseña, talla e imprime tu propia obra de arte usando bloques de goma y técnicas tradicionales de impresión. Se proporcionarán todos los materiales, incluyendo herramientas de tallado, tinta y papel.
