Chen-style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is widely acknowledged as the ancestor of all other styles of Taijiquan. This class will introduce the Chen-style Taijiquan form, Silk-reeling exercises and Wuji Qigong. The Chen-style Taijiquan form is soft and graceful with strong rooted stands that will help students to develop strength, balance, coordination and an understanding of basic Taiji principles. Silk-reeling Exercises are a series of spiral movements that promote muscle relaxation and flexibility by reducing physical tension and strain. Wuji Qigong (standing meditation) will help students cultivate internal energy (qi) with proper body alignment for better internal energy flow, enhancing their immune systems and reducing physical and mental stress.  Space is limited. First come, first served.

Join us for our Plant and Puzzle Swap on Sunday, May 18 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the foyer outside the Foster City Library!  Bring potted plants, plant cuttings, seeds, and/or complete puzzles and exchange them for something new to you!  This program is in partnership with RethinkWaste. RethinkWaste works on behalf of eleven member agencies in San Mateo County (Belmont, Burlingame, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Redwood City, San Carlos, San Mateo, parts of unincorporated San Mateo County and the West Bay Sanitary District). They own and manage the Shoreway Environmental Center in San Carlos, which receives all of the recycling, compost, and garbage collected in their service area.

"The screening of âLasa and Legacyâ is a captivating docuseries showcasing pivotal chapters in Filipino American history within the San Francisco Bay Area. After the screening, you can also engage in a group discussion. Light refreshments will be provided.  Part documentary and part cooking show, Lasa and Legacy is a docuseries highlighting four stories in Filipino American history in the San Francisco Bay Area, including the Filipino farm labor movement, the struggle for the International Hotel in the 1960s and â70s, activism in Filipino punk culture, and the SF-based anti-dictatorship movement during the Martial Law in the Philippines. Each episode features a mouthwatering cooking segment of a Filipino dish related to that history. The docuseries was primarily filmed in the SOMA Pilipinas Cultural District of San Francisco."
