The Garden of Beadinâ will be hosting a series of immersive workshops guided by Abi of @wherethe_pinesgrow. Gourd Birdhouse Decorating To register, come into the shop or email us at [email protected] to reserve your spot. $70 per person âlimited spaces available. Ages 10+ Workshop OverviewParticipants will be introduced to the beautiful world of gourd art. Weâll start with a quick overview of what gourds are, the different varieties, and how theyâre grown. Weâll scrub and clean our gourds together. This step helps everyone understand the craft from the ground up and gets us connected to the material. Iâll briefly cover some of the traditional ways gourds have been used in the US and around the world. Participants will get to experiment with several design techniques such as decoupage, engraving, and gold leaf appliquĂŠ. Iâll demonstrate each method and help you explore your own creative direction. Before we begin, Iâll provide clear safety instructions since weâll be using saws, Dremels, and engraving tools. Gloves, goggles, and face masks will be provided for everyone. Youâll leave with a beautifully decorated birdhouse. If you want to continue exploring gourd crafts at home, Iâll have additional blank gourds available for purchase.
