School Spirit Day Storybook Character Dress Up Friday, October 31, 2025vhdhtry To motivate students to read more, we encourage them to participate in Storybook Character Dress Up Day onFriday, October 31. Students should bring to school the book from which they chose their storybook character.We will hold a parade to share all the different characters students have selected.  The parade for TK will begin at 8:30 a.m. through Gate 3 and be held on their playground. The Kindergarten to 5th Grade parade will start at 9 am through Gates 1 and 2 on the main blacktop. We ask parents to please move to the center of the parade area for the best viewing.Please follow the guidelines to make this a fun experience for our students.? Help your child pick out or make a costume that will be safe.?  Students will not be allowed to wear masks of any kind. Masks can obstruct a child's vision. ?  Facial make-up is not acceptable.? Please do not pick a costume from a horror book/character-no evil faces. ? Costumes should not be so long that they are a tripping hazard.? Shoes need to be appropriate for playing in.? Students will  NOT  be allowed to bring  sharp objects, weapon-related objects, or fake weapons.  Noexceptions.

School Spirit Day Storybook Character Dress Up Friday, October 31, 2025vhdhtry To motivate students to read more, we encourage them to participate in Storybook Character Dress Up Day onFriday, October 31. The Student Council & HSC Are Having a Canned Food Drive Next Month! Please Consider Donating to Support Local Families.   We have some important updates about our canned food drive. Please read this update or see the original post for the most up-to-date information about where to bring items for donations starting next week. Thank you!All students will take their donations directly to their homeroom class and place them in the donation bin, by or in their classroom. Please do not label any individual items you donate with the name of your child's teacher or drop items off at the front office. You may place items in a disposable bag for your student to carry to their classroom bin. The Las Animas Student Council & the Home and School Club are teaming up this year to give back to the Gilroy community!This  November, from the 3rd to the 14th , we will be collecting non-perishable food items for our canned food drive. All donations will go to South Country Community Services here in Gilroy. Non-perishable food items such as canned fruit, canned tuna or salmon, canned vegetables, soups, and broths are all welcome donations. We are also accepting dry goods such as uncooked rice and pasta, cereal, dry beans, crackers, and granola bars.  Please do not donate any items that come in glass containers, are not shelf-stable, or are expired. Where to donate: Students will donate items by class. All students  will take their donations directly to their homeroom class and place them in the donation bin, by or in their classroom.  Please do not label any individual items you donate with the name of your child's teacher or drop items off at the front office.  You may place items in a disposable bag for your student to carry to their classroom bin. Our wonderful student council will collect the donations and keep record of the total number of items donated in each class.
