Saturday Storytime

Come along on an imaginary adventure for Family Storytime. Hear new stories, sing songs and learn wiggles that the whole family can enjoy together, from toddlers to grown-ups.

Make your first basket! The class is for beginners who will learn how to weave reed onto a wood basket frame. The finished size of the basket is 4.5 inches tall and 4 inches wide, a perfect size to hold pencils and pens. Participants will receive in-person, hands-on instruction and all materials will be provided. Hand strength is required for basketmaking. Space is limited and registration is required.

Adults, join us for a fun and active Zumba fitness workshop at the Half Moon Bay Library led by instructor Vicky. Be sure to bring comfortable clothing, comfortable tennis shoes, a small towel, and water to stay hydrated. Please register to participate. Zumba® is a fitness class that fuses Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program. Inspired by Latin dance and music, Zumba® uses a variety of styles in its routines, including cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggaetón, mambo, rumba, flamenco, and hip-hop. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are combined with resistance training to tone and sculpt your body. Zumba® is often promoted as a dance party; the type of exercise you’ll want to do every day.

Chen-style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is widely acknowledged as the ancestor of all other styles of Taijiquan. This class will introduce the Chen-style Taijiquan form, Silk-reeling Exercises and Wuji Qigong. The Chen-style Taijiquan form is soft and graceful with strong rooted stands that will help students to develop strength, balance, coordination and an understanding of basic Taiji principles. Silk-reeling Exercises are a series of spiral movements which promote muscle relaxation and flexibility by reducing physical tension and strain. Wuji Qigong (standing meditation) will help students to cultivate internal energy (qi) with proper body alignment for better internal energy flow, which will enhance their immune systems and reduce physical and mental stress.
