Join your friends at Hercules Library for music, rhymes, flannel board stories, and book-centered fun every Saturday! We'll have two identical back-to-back storytimes with limited space in each: 10:00-10:30am in the Children's Library  10:30-11:00am in the Large Conference Room  Library storytime is a great way to help young children develop their early literacy and social skills while building a lifelong love of learning. Hercules Library is proudly displaying their artwork throughout the library. And this is your chance to engage with the artists, hear about their inspiration and methods, and learn more about Art of the African Diaspora, the longest running event of its kind in the Bay Area.  Special thanks to our partnership with Richmond Art Center for bringing the art, and artists, to Hercules Library.

We welcome Insiders to the Hercules Library! This monthly program welcomes adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and provides opportunities to engage in fun activities that are tailored to the group's interests and ability levels. We have something different planned every month. Check our events listing, call or visit us to stay updated. This month's activity is a cupcake making craft with LaVera Wilson. Each student will have a paper-mache "cupcake" to decorate and take home. If accommodations are needed, please contact the library 72 hours prior to the event.

Teens - join us for a screening of Just Mercy in the Homeschool Room. Based on the bestselling book, Just Mercy presents the unforgettable story of Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan) and the case of Walter McMillian (Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx), who was convicted and sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit. After the film, homeschool parent Caitlyn Obolsky will lead the group in a meaningful discussion about issues brought up in the film that we still face as a nation today. With resources from The Equal Justice Initiative, we'll talk more about the criminal justice system, racial discrimination, and the real people behind the film. Please note that the movie is PG-13 and is intended for a more mature audience. Attendees must be 13 years or older.
