This effort is part of the statewide Coastal Cleanup Day and is made possible by the Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District and The Alameda County Unincorporated Area Clean Water Program in coordination with Friends of San Lorenzo Creek. Be part of the annual Coastal Cleanup Day at the Castro Valley Creek Trail! Volunteers* will participate in a litter pickup along the creek trail and beautify the trail starting from the Castro Valley Library to Castro Valley Creek Blvd. Trash from inland areas, like Castro Valley Creek, flows downstream to the coast and into the ocean. Cleaning upstream riparian areas helps prevent garbage from entering the ocean, protecting birds and other marine animals, while beautifying the environment. Yeah! Volunteers* may also participate in a water testing demonstration to learn about various types of water pollution and their effects on the creek and the ocean. Questions? As part of Alameda County Resource Conservation District’s ongoing project to design three new wildlife crossing structures and identify priority existing ones, we are seeking input and partnership from land trusts, public landowners and managers, and other land conservation stakeholders. Long-term success of these crossings depends on securing and stewarding the surrounding landscapes.   If you are an individual or work for an organization involved with land acquisition around I-580, I-680 and SR-84 in the Alameda County, please register to attend.
