    The City of Newport Beach Arts Commission presents its annual Summer Concerts Series on the Green featuring an array of performers for your entertainment.  Bring your low-slung beach chairs and blankets and enjoy an evening in a fun atmosphere. Pack a picnic dinner or purchase from on-site gourmet food trucks . No alcohol is permitted.  Unless otherwise noted all concerts are held on the  Newport Beach Civic Center Green  (100 Civic Center Drive Newport Beach).  Admission and parking are free on a first come first served basis.   Pacific Symphony Symphony in the Cities unites thousands of people each year for lively concerts in local parks offering a mix of classical favorites popular music and patriotic tunes. Led by a member of Pacific Symphonyâs conducting staff the event invites audiences to join in a spirited sing-along of patriotic songs. To enrich the evening the Symphony offers a pre-concert Musical Playground filled with interactive hands-on activities for children.  Presented by the Newport Beach City Arts Commission.

      Agenda Packet     Appointed by the Newport Beach City Council the  Board of Library Trustees  is a policy-making board responsible for the administration of City libraries. The Board considers the annual budget for library purposes during the process of its preparation and makes recommendations to the City Council and City Manager. The Board also approves or disapproves the appointment suspension or removal of the Library Services Director.   The Newport Beach City Arts Commission presents: Joseph Cladis  (Lithographs) Exhibiting August 25 2025 through October 17 2025   The City of Newport Beach maintains exhibit space at the Central Library   1000 Avocado Avenue. The Library was completed in 1994 and now averages 3 000 daily visitors. The Lobby Gallery in the Central Library has approximately 38 feet of linear wall space designed for  two-dimensional pieces of art. Additionally   two display cabinets were added to the lobby of Central Library in 2010. Artists may now apply to exhibit three-dimensional works for this exhibition space. The display cases are approximately 24â high x 24â deep x 24â wide All gallery spaces are administered by the Library Services Manager. The City Arts Commissionâs Fine Arts Committee meets periodically to review artist's submissions and artists will be notified by mail of acceptance. Art exhibitions are scheduled for at least one year in advance for all exhibit locations. Regional artists are encouraged to submit exhibition proposals. Upon acceptance exhibiting artists must agree to the conditions and requirements detailed in the  City Policy 1-11.   Join Us for PAL's International Literacy Day Celebration  All of us are excited that we will be able to host International Literacy Day (ILD) at the Newport Beach Public Library. This is one of our favorite events of the year so be sure to mark your calendar to join us for this special day of celebration that honors the learners in our program. In 1967 UNESCO proclaimed September 8th as International Literacy Day to remind the global community of the importance of literacy for individuals communities and societies and the need for intensified efforts towards more literate societies. All of the volunteers at Project Adult Literacy (PAL) work hard to fulfill this directive and the results are evident by the wonderful accomplishments by our learners.   One of the highlights of International Literacy Day is the announcement of the Rochelle Hoffman Memorial Award. Rochelle was a beloved tutor in the program until her death in 2004. Her family and friends started this award in Rochelle's honor to recognize one special learner for their outstanding achievements in their literacy efforts. Because of Rochelle's thoughtful family and friends the chosen learner is presented with a generous cash award. Another highlight of ILD is the distribution of a book of learner's writings.  In Our Own Words  is a collection of stories essays poems and other writings that the learners in the program have worked on throughout the year.
