Welcome to Crystal Cove Conservancy’s and Crystal Cove State Park’s Stewardship Event!Come help us on a habitat restoration project during Stewardship Saturday! This volunteer event is open to all and offers a hands-on way to connect with Crystal Cove’s natural beauty and history. Participants will assist in activities to help advance ongoing restoration projects throughout the park. The day’s activities—such as site preparation, weeding, seeding, and planting—will depend on site needs and the time of year. No experience is required! The event is free, and RSVPs are required. Register here. Event details: Time: 8:00am-11:30amRegistration is capped at 20 participants per day.Recommended for ages 16 and up. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.What to bring: sunscreena hatsturdy closed-toed shoeslong pantslong sleeves (recommended)gloves if you have them (gloves will also be provided)snacks and water in a reusable bottlePlease contact Jen at [email protected] for any questions. Each event will take place at one of the two project sites below: The Bowl: Hike level: MediumBe prepared to walk about 30 minutes to the project site (~1.5 miles one way ~3.0 miles round trip) on slightly uneven, mostly flat terrain. However, there is some elevation gain as you approach the site.Coastal Bluffs: Hike level: EasyThis site is easily accessible from the parking lot and does not require any hiking.The project site will be determined closer to the event date. This dynamic event, presented in partnership by the Crystal Cove Conservancy and Laguna Art Museum, explores the impact of habitat loss on ecological resilience and how we can all play a role in protecting our environment.  A Conservancy expert will share key insights on how habitat destruction affects ecosystems and why resilient habitats are crucial for wildlife, clean water, and our communities. Afterward, Laguna Art Museum instructors will guide you through a creative multimedia art project, turning your newfound knowledge into a unique expression of conservation. You’ll leave feeling inspired with fresh ideas on how local efforts can spark real change and how resilient habitats benefit us all.   Whether you’re a seasoned environmentalist or simply curious to learn more, Conservation Through Art offers an inspiring blend of education, creativity, and community spirit. Celebrate Parks Week at Crystal Cove State Park!  California State Parks Week (June 11-15, 2025) is an exciting new annual event that celebrates the amazing diversity of California’s State Park System and the people who visit and help protect these iconic places.  As part of Parks Week’s Explore New Experiences theme, the Conservancy’s Grunion Run event provides a rare opportunity for participants to witness and learn about one of the coast’s most elusive creatures: the grunion. Marvel at the thrill of the grunion run—when these remarkable fish briefly come ashore to spawn—and delve into the wonders of Southern California’s dynamic marine ecosystems. Before venturing down to the beach, warm up with hot chocolate and treats while Crystal Cove Conservancy educators share insights into this cryptic species, coastal conservation, and the vital role of Marine Protected Areas. If the night skies are clear, the OC Astronomers will be on hand to guide you on a stargazing journey, revealing celestial wonders overhead through their telescopes.
