In celebration of the publication of “The Adventures of Trans Educators: A Comic Book Issue”, Per Sia and Ali Blake will present a Drag Storytime-style reading from their comic "Socrates and Me" followed by a discussion and Q&A. Additional collaborators will share their contributions to the comic project and their visions for sustaining trans presence in education.  Join these writers / artists / educators in a community conversation about sustaining best practices for celebrating and preserving the Bay Area’s rich history of expansive expression and gender self-determination and what each of us can do to assist and champion trans educators, community spaces, and especially trans youth right here in Oakland. Bay Area based comic collaborators will be sharing their knowledge of the comic making process, along with providing materials for attendees to create their own art in response to the discussion. During the clinic, we’ll show you how to assess the condition of your bike, identify small issues, and make simple repairs with the help of an instructor. You’ll get real-time support, guidance, and the chance to get your hands on the tools and the process. We’ll have a limited number of repair stands and tool kits available, but we’ll do our best to accommodate everyone and keep things moving smoothly. Come practice yoga! This class is designed for those new to yoga, as well as long-time practitioners. Accessibly paced, we will focus on the fundamentals of poses (asana), breathing, and being in community. This class is meant to ground students in their bodies, while not taking ourselves too seriously. Come as you are to the mat. Participants will need to wear comfortable clothing for movement and bring a yoga mat and small blanket (or bath towel), as well as any other supports they would like. This class will be held the last two Fridays of the month. Get accessibility information. Jaime has been practicing yoga since 2011. The more she practices, the more she uncovers how much yoga has to offer in transforming a busy mind and in transforming one’s relation to the world. Jaime sees herself as a life-long learner whose teaching style is to hold space in class for others to explore their practice. Jaime completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training and has completed additional trainings on energetics and breath.
