They help you get started, so you can take those skills and continue to explore and learn on your own! Computer Docents can: Teach you to use email Teach you to create and save documents Teach you to print out a document or web page Teach you to do basic web searches Assist you with eBooks on the Libby app Computer Docents cannot: Perform repair work on your device Install hardware, software or program updates on your device Provide word processing services (typing on your behalf, etc.) Provide private lessons, or accept payment or remuneration of any kind Recommend products for you to buy (e.g., computers), do your online shopping, or place ads for you (e.g., eBay, Craig’s List, Amazon consignment sales, want ads, etc.) No appointments necessary. Computer Docent help is first come, first serve. If other patrons are waiting, Computer Docents can assist you for a maximum of thirty minutes. If you’re a seasoned artist, someone crafty, DIY enthusiast who likes to dabble, come check out Drop-In Maker Space. Our volunteers and community experts are there every Monday night to assist with starting a new project or helping to get over the next hurdle. The Maker Space is equipped with a Cameo Sillhouette Pro for all your crafting needs, as well as an Epilog Fusion Pro Lasercutter and the Ultimaker s5 3D Printer so there's no limit to what you could create. The Maker Space even has multiple sewing machines available for avid stitchers looking for a workspace, machine, or volunteer to help them finish a project. Like any good creator, the Maker Space is always evolving, so Drop-In to see what’s new. You don’t have to be high-tech to use the Maker Space. If you just need some room to spread out and get messy, make it in the Maker Space. Drop-In Shop is for Adults 18 and over only. Maker Safety Waiver required to participate in hands-on projects.

Drop-In Knitting & Sewing

Join an enthusiastic group of crafters on Tuesday evenings in the makerspace. All skill levels and abilities are welcome. Volunteers will be on hand for assistance with our sewing machines. Bring your own projects and supplies. No registration required.

We’ll have a variety of toys, bubbles, and puzzles for babies and toddlers providing caregivers fun ways to interact with their little ones

Mini Masterpieces: Canvas Art for Teens

Experience the playful and therapeutic nature of clay in this hand-building workshop hosted by ceramicist Judy Fleming. She will demonstrate hand-building techniques and then you will create an animal of your choosing. You'll even get a chance to glaze and color your piece before Judy takes it back to her workshop in Oakland to fire it.  Your handmade creations will be ready to pick up from the library around three weeks after the class!  This class is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library. There is no cost to attend, but you must be 18 or older and registration is required.
