Avast ye saucy sailors! Come brave the perilous waters of Point Reyes and join us for a rollicking good time at Point Reyes National Seashore's Sea Chantey Sing-along. Meet inside of the auditorium of the Bear Valley Visitor Center where we'll raise our voices together in songs of the sea. Bring your arsenal of sea chanteys and your desire to lead us all in a tune—or simply join in on the chorus if that's what floats your boat.This free event is for chantey singers of all levels. Due to the nature of sea chanteys there may be lyrics that are not appropriate for children.If you can't make it on August 16 come to one of our other scheduled Songs of the Sea & Chantey Sing-alongs this year:Saturday June 21Saturday July 19Saturday September 13

Join park staff & volunteers every other Thursday 10am-2pm to help restore critical coastal dune habitat at Point Reyes National Seashore!Frequently asked questionsDo I need to register in advance to attend?Individual drop-in attendance is welcomed for anyone over 18 years old. For volunteers under 18 a "Volunteer Agreement Form" needs to be signed by a parent/guardian and groups over 5 need to register ahead of time. Please email the Volunteer Manager at [email protected] for more info.What type of work will be doing?Work will consist of removing invasive plants by hand and in some cases using hand tools. Common plants we will be pulling include ice plant European searocket and European Beach grass.Will we be hiking to the work location?Yes each workday will begin with a welcome check-in at the Abbott's Lagoon trailhead which has bathroom access. We will then hike 1.3 miles on a mostly flat dirt trail to reach our worksite. Volunteers are welcome to stay for as long as they like.

Point Reyes National Seashore invites you to the Sand Sculpture Contest at Drakes Beach.Saturday, August 23, 2025 (the Saturday before Labor Day Weekend) 9 am–3:30 pmCategories include: Children (fourteen years of age and under), Families, and Adult. Three prizes will be awarded in each of those categories. Only materials found on Drakes Beach may be incorporated into the structure. Do not pick plants or pull rocks or gravel from the cliffs. Build above the high tide line and away from the cliffs for your safety. Free to participants and spectators.Registration begins at 9 am at the Kenneth C. Patrick Visitor Center. Judging begins at noon. Prizes awarded at 3 pm. Prizes donated by the Point Reyes National Seashore Association.Please be aware that parking will be extremely limited during the contest and Drakes Beach will be heavily impacted with contest participants. If possible, please carpool with friends. To avoid crowds here, please consider visiting another beach in the park.This event is family based, but please remember no dogs are allowed on this designated swimming beach (no lifeguard on duty).Bring a picnic and spend the day!The PRNSA bookstore adjacent to the Kenneth C. Patrick Visitor Center will be open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday, August 23, 2025. There will be hot and cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches, books, and gifts for sale.
