TeenHQ MakerSpace Studio

Middle and high schoolers: Come explore the TeenHQ MakerSpace! Up to 5 teens at a time can use the space to utilize our 3D printers, Poster Printer, GlowForge, Sewing & Serger Machines, Cricut, Button Press, and miscellaneous craft supplies. Work with our teen librarian to bring your idea to life. Each machine and other materials have limitations and time requirements. Please see below for more information. Pre-registration is recommended to reserve your spot. If not all claimed registration spots have arrived by 4:30PM, they will be given to those waiting. All services are provided for free to middle and high school (6-12 grade) students. Younger people and adults are not permitted in the area unless required to assist with a disability. Pre-registration will start 1 week before the start of the program. Please un-register yourself if you find you're unable to attend at a later date. Registration closes 1 hour before the start of the program. There will not be a waitlist for pre-registration. Drop-ins will be accepted if not all registration slots are filled and if not all registered individuals arrive by 4:30PM. The area is wheelchair accessible from the Children’s Room elevator. Other accommodations can be made available with request. ADA Accommodation Requests Please note that each device requires time to set up, use, and complete whatever task you're wanting to use the space for. Be sure that you have enough time in your schedule to attend the program. Not all tasks may be completed before the end of the program and you may need to return to get your completed items or pause your task and restart at another studio session. We appreciate your patience and flexibility. 3D Printing: All requested prints must take less than 4.5 hours to print. All requested prints will need to be picked up at a later date. Contact information is required for notification of pick-up. 3D print quality and time needed to complete prints is not guaranteed. Multiple objects can be printed as long as the total time does not exceed 4.5 hours. Poster Printing: All prints must be assembled on a 2”x3” canvas and printed as a .png. Please see the regularly scheduled poster printing event for further details. One poster per teen per day. GlowForge: Create a custom engraved object. Object should follow similar guidelines to the Custom Keychain Program. Complexity of request is at the discretion of the librarian. Sewing & Serger Machines: It is recommended that you bring your own fabric and thread if fabric is special or color is a factor. There are scrap material and thread available but we cannot guarantee material quality or availability. An iron and ironing board is also available Cricut: Basic Cricut supplies are available, such as construction and cardstock paper. If your project is specialized, such as requiring iron-on, you’ll need to bring your own materials. It is recommended that you know the requirements for any materials you provide. Button Press: TeenHQ offers two sizes of button presses. We cannot offer printing. If your bring your own printout of buttons, it must be printed on standard printer paper. Paper thicker than standard printer paper cannot be used on the button presses. All measurements below are diameter length in inches. Small Button Press: 1.25” Large Button Press: 2.25” Picture Size: 1.156” Cut Line: 1.629” Picture Size: 2.063” Cut Line: 2.625”

Crafty, artsy, and creative teens looking to start their own small business: we have the camp for you! Join TeenHQ to bring your business from idea to sales in less than 3 months this January-March, 2026. This intensive camp will walk you through business fundamentals, pitching, target audience, cost, supply, basic branding and marketing, and sales. Participants will participate in camp days in January and early February, have access to the TeenHQ MakerSpace to work on and create their product or service, and sell their product or service at the ARTrepreneur: Teen Craft Fair on Saturday, March 14th, 2026. Schedule Camp Days: Wednesday Evenings, January 7th - February 11, 6-7:45PM MakerSpace Days will be some Wednesdays and Saturdays and are optional but highly encouraged. Saturday, Feb 7th, 4-5:30PM Saturday, Feb 14th, 4-5:30PM Saturday, Feb 21st, 4-5:30PM Wednesday, Feb 25th, 6-7:45PM Wednesday, Mar 4th, 6-7:45PM Wednesday, Mar 11th, 6-7:45PM ARTrepreneur: Teen Craft Fair: Saturday, March 14th, 2-5PM, at the TeenHQ Reading Room. Requirements To Participate Be a current 8th grade or high school student. Be able to attend required Wednesday evening camp days in January and February at the downtown Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, in-person. Be able to attend the Craft Fair, Saturday, March 14th at the Dr. King Jr. Library’s TeenHQ. Willing and able to work on product/service development and assignments outside of camp days. Willing and able to work in groups, create presentations, express ideas, and present ideas. Willing and able to work hard to make your business the best it can be. Familiarity with Google Drive is recommended but not required. Pre-registration is required. Perks Each business will receive $75 in seed funding to use for specific aspects of their business. Access to TeenHQ’s MakerSpace Resources: Sewing Machines, Green Screen, Photography Studio, 3D Printer, GlowForge, Poster Printer, Button Press, and more on sign-up days. How To Register Talk with your adult caregivers to make sure you can attend all Wednesday class sessions. Register for the Camp using this form. Wait for email confirmation of your registration. Registration closes on Wednesday, Dec. 31st at 3:00PM. Fine Print The camp is limited to 15 attendees. A waitlist will be created as needed. If you have already received seed funding twice before, you are no longer able to register, BUT you’re always welcome to the Craft Fairs. You must attend the first camp day to guarantee a spot in the camp. If you are unable to attend, your space may be given to a waitlisted individual. First day of camp is crucial (as are all other camp days). Parents are included in major communication, but it is expected that the teen ARTrepreneur be the primary participant in this program and all communication should come from the teen. Since a majority of our meetings are less than two hours, it is very important that ARTreprenenurs are on-time to meetings. Timeline and deadlines are crucial to success in ARTrepreneurs.
