Healthy Tuesdays at the Library -- Tai Chi Recharge Your Body & Mind – One Breath at a Time Step away from your desk and onto the mat! The library offers a free wellness session for adults on Tuesdays at lunchtime — featuring Yoga and Tai Chi on alternating weeks. All levels welcome – no registration required. Tai Chi. In these classes, participants will learn the foundations of Tai Chi movement, the gentle and energizing Eight Brocades Qi Gong, the graceful Yang-style 24 Form, the powerful Chen-style 18 and 74 Forms, and the dynamic Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan routine. Tai Chi is a low-impact aerobic exercise known for improving balance, flexibility, and overall well-being. Whether you’re new to Tai Chi or looking to deepen your practice, this is a wonderful opportunity to improve your health in a calm, welcoming environment. No Registration.  Classes are filled first-come first serve.  The doors close when the room reaches capacity. What to bring: Be sure to wear comfy clothes and bring a water bottle. Meet our instructor. Vincent Liu, a dedicated Tai Chi practitioner who previously taught at the library. With over 23 years of experience studying authentic Tai Chi under Chinese masters, Vincent brings both depth and clarity to his teaching. His classes offer a calm, supportive space where participants of all ages—especially older adults—can explore mindful movement to improve balance, flexibility, and inner well-being. Join Vincent to experience the gentle strength and lasting benefits of Tai Chi. Healthy Tuesdays are scheduled weekly: 1st Tuesday of the month: Wellness Yoga.  2nd Tuesday of the month: Tai Chi.  3rd Tuesday of the month: ChairYoga.  4th Tuesday of the month: Tai Chi 5th Tuesday:  When there is a 5th Tuesday of the month, check our website to see what's happening. The presentation explores Frost’s controversial life and influential works with wit and insight, offering fascinating anecdotes and little-known facts—such as his San Francisco origins and their impact on poems like Once by the Pacific and A Peck of Gold. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of why "The Road Not Taken" remains both wildly popular and widely misunderstood, while enjoying a rich blend of literary analysis, personal stories, and spirited performances that bring Frost’s poetry to life. This special event is presented in celebration of National Poetry Month, honoring one of America’s most beloved poets and his enduring legacy. David Alpaugh - California Poet Laureate Finalist David Alpaugh’s first collection, Counterpoint, won the Nicholas Roerich Poetry Prize from Story Line Press. More than 400 of his poems have appeared in literary journals such as American Journal of Poetry. He is one of the fifty contemporary poets selected by Dana Gioia for the Heyday Press anthology California Poetry from the Gold Rush to the Present. He is the author of three voice plays, all of which have won awards from the University of California and have been published by Boundary 2 and Scene4. In 2016 David Alpaugh created a new poetic form that he calls the Double-Title Poem. Since then, he has written more than 100 "DTs" and more than 90 have been published in print and online at literary journals in the U.S. and United Kingdom. A graduate of Rutgers University and the University of California, Berkeley, David teaches poetry for the UC Berkeley Extension and at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute’s Cal State East Bay Campus. A popular performer of his own poetry, he hosted monthly poetry readings in the SF Bay area for fifteen years.
