Did you know the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA (PHS/SPCA) treats sick, injured and orphaned wildlife from San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties at the new Wildlife Care Center in Saratoga? Join us for a presentation about Saratoga's Wildlife Care Center. Learn about wildlife programs that treat these animals using state-of-the-art facilities, eventually releasing them back into their natural habitats. We will address questions on these topics during the session: ● The origins of PHS/SPCA’s rehabilitation services for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife; ● From where and why we receive wildlife patients; ● The rehabilitation process; ● What to do if you encounter a wild animal that needs help; ● Some common native plants and wildlife in the area; ● Our conservation efforts to boost the populations of at-risk wildlife species; ● Steps you can take to discourage wildlife from settling in around your home; ● How you can get involved in caring for wild animals in the community; and ● Our Wildlife Education and Outreach programs. Elizabeth Didato, speaker and Wildlife Educator for the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, earned a bachelor's degree in environmental studies with a focus on conservation. As a student she worked with domestic and wild animals. After college, Elizabeth worked with wildlife for 15+ years, including roles in zoos and wildlife rehabilitation. She went on to become a classroom teacher, teaching middle and high school science. She joined the PHS/SPCA team in 2024 to develop the Wildlife Education Program.

Anil Sawe's exhibit consists of oil paintings on canvas depicting colorful sunsets and the power of the ocean. His exhibit runs from Nov 1 to Dec 30, 2025 and is open to the public during the Library's open hours. About the Artist Anil was born in Bombay, India, and was an engineer by profession. However, he always found a strong attachment to all visual arts. Now retired, Anil lives in Aptos and loves to capture the ocean's energy and vivid colors of the west coast sunsets in his paintings.
