Santa Clara County Library District residents are eligible to register for this in-person ESL class led by professional ESL instructors. Join us to learn and improve your English listening and speaking skills.  This class session is for beginner and intermediate ESL students. Classes are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from April 1st to May 29th. You must be able to attend the entire class session. This class will take place in person at the Saratoga Library. Attendees must be at least 18 years old. Registration for this session is now closed. Check back in August for the Fall session.

Identify chord progressions, find the key of the song, and create harmonies to take your music to the next level. In this 5 week course, you will learn fundamentals in music theory with emphasis on chord structure, progressions, and harmony accompaniments in modern pop songs. No registration, just drop in. As part of the Saratoga Blossom Festival, the Saratoga Historical Society will be screening the film Hakone: A Century of Beauty and Endurance. In 1915 Isabel Stine, wife of businessman Oliver Stine, visited the magnificent Japan Pavilion at the Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco and was so enthralled she wanted to create her own Japanese garden estate. Mrs. Stine journeyed to Japan for ideas and inspiration and in 1917 master landscape architects and artisans from Japan began building the Japanese garden in the foothills of Saratoga she named Hakone. With interviews, historic photographs, and scenic footage, this video tells that intriguing story of how Hakone passed through several private ownerships and was purchased by the City of Saratoga to become a beautiful public garden open to all.
