The Tahoe City Downtown Association (TCDA) invites residents, property owners, and community members to attend the next Tahoe City Firewise Community meeting on Monday, April 20 at 6 p.m. in the TCPUD Board Room, with a virtual option available via Zoom (link at bottom). The meeting will focus on planning details for Tahoe City’s first Defensible Space Cleanup Day scheduled for May 30, an important step in strengthening wildfire preparedness and helping the community move toward official Firewise Community designation. During the meeting, participants will discuss cleanup logistics, volunteer coordination, outreach to neighbors, and opportunities for residents to help reduce wildfire risk around homes and neighborhoods. Creating defensible space — clearing flammable vegetation and debris around structures — is one of the most effective ways homeowners can help protect their property and the community from wildfire. Community participation is essential to the Firewise process. The program requires local residents to work together with fire agencies and community organizations to improve wildfire safety and preparedness. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, whether you are interested in volunteering, learning more about defensible space practices, or helping support the May 30 cleanup effort.
