About the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment The City of Castle Pines Planning Commission deliberates and makes recommendations to the City Council on land-use applications, proposed long-range policy planning documents, and zoning regulations. The Commission consists of seven residents from various backgrounds who are appointed by the City Council. The Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Douglas County Library, 360 Village Square Lane in Castle Pines. The City of Castle Pines Board of Adjustment holds public hearings on variance requests and considers appeals to interpretations made by City staff. The Board of Adjustment is comprised of the same members as the Planning Commission and meets on the same meeting days, as needed.

Castle Pines residents are invited to enjoy a mid-week summer break during the Summer Splash Water Day! Get ready to glide down the free water slides and frolic in an epic foam party! It'll be a day filled with laughter, splashes, and unforgettable memories. A live DJ and food trucks will be available when you need a break. Participants under 18 must be supervised by a parent or designated guardian during the entirety of the event. Children cannot be dropped off. All participants must complete a waiver in advance of event. Those under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Fill out online waiver.

Love spending time on the water paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or fishing? Or are you more of a fan of solid ground and would rather hike, ride your bike, or enjoy a relaxing picnic overlooking the water? Either way, a day at the Rueter-Hess Reservoir is sure to be filled with all kinds of fun! Castle Pines residents are invited to enjoy a free day at the reservoir on Sunday, Aug. 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (note the updated earlier start time!) Bring your own paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks or rent one (see below.) Everyone must wear a lifejacket while on the water, which can also be rented. Space is limited, so registration is required. Use this link to register: RegisterRent water equipment in advance through the local vendor SurfSUP  - use the Castle Pines reservation link. (Lifejackets are listed as "extra PFD", which stands for personal floatation device.) Check out the new fishing regulations at Rueter-Hess (implemented July 2025.)
