Honoring Max. Strengthening Community. Changing Lives. Sean Plumb is a dedicated advocate for the Applewood community and an active board member with a deep commitment to local causes. After the heartbreaking loss of his son, Max, to addiction in September 2020, Sean and the Plumb family set out to turn their grief into purpose—helping other families avoid similar tragedy and creating a lasting legacy of hope. The Max Plumb Memorial Golf Tournament, now in its 6th year, is more than a day on the course. Hosted by the Applewood Community Foundation, this heartfelt event brings neighbors together to uplift youth, support schools, and invest in stronger, healthier communities. Thanks to generous donors and sponsors, the Foundation has contributed more than $100,000 to Jefferson Center for Mental Health, establishing the Max Plumb Scholarship Fund. Since 2023 the ACF has used funds raised as a match on Colorado Gives Day, which has raised an additional $250,000. These funds directly support the Jefferson Center's client-centered services designed to meet individual mental health, substance use, and wellness needs.  Every swing, every sponsor, every supporter makes a difference—right here in our own backyard. Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to help someone who is experiencing a mental health challenge. Support those around you by getting certified in Mental Health First Aid   Mental Health First Aid teaches the skills needed to recognize and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, as well as how to provide someone with initial support until they are connected with appropriate professional help. In the course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies to help someone in both crisis and noncrisis situations, and where to turn for help. The curriculum includes access to a two hour self-paced course, and 2 (two) 3.5 hour online sessions. You can expect to receive communications about the two hour self-paced course approximately 2 weeks before the course start date. To attend a class you must: • Complete the self-paced course prior to the scheduled • A valid email address in order to receive materials and log in This course is designed for anyone who would like to make their community a healthier, happier and safer place for all. Join us for a tour of Martin Marietta's Spec Agg Quarry in Golden! Chamber members will be given access to observe the operations of a granite surface mine. We will be going down into the active pit to view mining equipment in operation and visit the material processing plants, where they can see how large rock is processed into aggregate products that are used in construction materials. Check-in will take place at the mine site office, where all visitors will receive MSHA site-specific training and be issued the required PPE.  Required attire: Long pants Safety-toe footwear (please let us know when you register if you have your own pair of steel-toe boots.  If you do not own steel-toe boots, MM has a limited number of safety-toe shoe covers available)
