Celebrate summer with a live three concert series of music at the Palmer Lake Village Green!The first concert of this series features Peak Big Band:Originally led by Floyd Frame under the name Jazz Express, the band was mostly made up of members from the NORAD band as well as a few community members.   Under the direction of Fred Martinez, the band became known as the Peak Big Band and significantly expanding its repertoire of big band music, playing from Duke Ellington to Glen Miller, from Sinatra to Stevie Wonder, and from Sly and Family Stone to Guns and Roses. Under the direction of Dan Bell since 2023, the Peak Big Band has evolved into one of the premier Big Bands in the Pikes Peak region.  Peak Big Band continues to play a variety of big band music with an emphasis on providing jazz improvisational opportunities for its musicians.  When you listen to the Peak Big Band you’ll hear a full and dynamic ensemble, as well as a myriad of soloists stretching out on the changes in the true spirit of jazz. This is a free concert, and everyone is welcome to attend.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy this one-hour performance.  The Village Green and gazebo are located right next to the Palmer Lake Library, 66 Lower Glenway Street.

Celebrate summer with a live three concert series of music at the Palmer Lake Village Green!The second concert of this series features the music of Ricky Sweum:Ricky Sweum is an award-wining musician, composer, educator, and music producer based in Colorado.  His performances have reached tens of millions of people worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, the Grammy Awards telecast, the Macy’s Day Parade, the Monterey Jazz Festival, and audiences in every U.S. state, Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Mexico, and Canada.  Ricky served a 21-year career performing with and leading Air Force Bands; he also lived in New York City for 10 years and toured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the “Sound of Music” featuring Marie Osmond.  Ricky has recorded ten solo albums, created multiple music NFT collections, appeared as a sideman on over 40 albums, and produced and engineered over 60 audio and/or video projects.  He is a co-owner and founder of Ninjazz Records.Currently, Ricky teaches music courses at Colorado College, the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and the University of Colorado (Colorado Springs).  Many of his students have become successful professional musicians and educators, often, winning full scholarships to their schools of choice.  Ricky holds a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Music Production from Berklee College of Music where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.  He also attended William Paterson University and was a member of the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop.  Find out more about Ricky Sweum here.This is a free concert, and everyone is welcome to attend.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy this one-hour performance.  The Village Green and gazebo are located right next to the Palmer Lake Library, 66 Lower Glenway Street.
