Bark Harvest - Killingly Business Association

The Killingly Business Association (KBA) is proud to announce the inaugural presentation of Bark Harvest on Sunday, November 2, from 12 PM to 4 PM at the site of the former St. Joseph’s Church located at 350 Hartford Pike in Killingly. The festival offers both pets and people an afternoon of fun activities in support of local animal shelters, all while experiencing what makes Killingly uniquely and “Pawsitively” appealing to both dog lovers and tourists alike.Event HighlightsBark Harvest will feature activities designed for both pets and their human companions. Event-goers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite dog photos to be included in a 2026 Bark Harvest Studio calendar. Those interested in entering their furry friend in the contest (dog or otherwise) can do so by scheduling a photo shoot with Charlene’s Portrait Studio. The $40 fee will be donated to local animal shelters and future Pawsitively Killingly initiatives. Sessions can be booked online from the event website at killinglyba.org/BarkHarvest.For the pets, there will be a dog costume contest and pet parade, a dog “pie” eating contest, Trick-or-Dog-Treat Trail, bobbing for pumpkins, paw painting art station, and an agility course hosted by Ocean State Agility Club. Pets must be leashed at all times while at the event.For the people, there will be a dog and pet-related vendor marketplace featuring an array of vendors including Kuhl-K9 Training, Strout’s Custom Acrylics/Happy Hounds LLC, Spicy Leashes, author Julia Kneeland, Fetch dog treat bakery and more.Eventgoers can also snap a “pumpkin patch pup photo” with their furry friends, watch a dog adoption parade, participate in a scavenger hunt, take part in a dog yoga demonstration, and purchase tickets for fun pet- and fall-themed raffle prizes. Fall-themed food and beverages will also be available and music will be provided by C. Hamilton Studios.All proceeds from Bark Harvest will directly support local pet shelters and fund future “Pawsitively Killingly” initiatives. Illumination: stories of shadow and light

[Storrs, CT] Connecticut’s versatile vocal chamber ensemble, Voices of Concinnity, is performing a beautifully compelling concert “Illumination: stories of shadow and light” on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 4:00PM at Storrs Congregational Church in Storrs on the University of Connecticut campus with special guest, Choir Matrix. Admission is a $20 and students/children are free to attend (no one turned away for lack of funds.) Described by audience members as “voices like I imagine angels might sound,” Voices of Concinnity is Connecticut’s versatile professional vocal chamber ensemble illuminating the breadth of choral music through innovative programming and richness of choral sound. Consisting of 12 dedicated, seasoned choral artists from diverse backgrounds, Concinnity harnesses each singer’s unique vocal qualities into a rich collective sound thus embracing an honesty that enhances the listening experience and resonates with audiences. Their debut album, “Awaiting Golden Light”, received a Gold Medal from the Global Music Awards and they are national finalists for the 2025 American Prize in Choral Performance, Professional Division. The performance will also include special guest, Choir Matrix, a community ensemble of soprano-alto voices known for full choral sound and for sharing music by historically excluded composers with the community. “Illumination: stories of shadow and light” is a moving concert experience that illuminates the stories of stark contrast between darkness and light as told through the natural beauty and ethereal sound of Voices of Concinnity, with special guest Choir Matrix. Boat America Course (Coast Guard Auxiliary)

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Tri-State Flotilla, Massachusetts will be instructing a boating safety class that meets current state mandated educational requirements. The BOAT AMERICA COURSE is offered in a one-day format developed to provide the skills and confidence needed to explore the coast and inland waters by boat. Basic knowledge and skills are needed to have safe and enjoyable boating experiences. This course is perfect for families that have just purchased any type of boat or are planning to in the future, and for the boater keeping up with changes to boating regulations and laws. Basic marlinespike seamanship (knots etc.) will also be included. Successful completion of the course will certify any minor, from 12 to 16 years of age, to operate a powerboat, including a Personal Water Craft / Jet Ski (for 16 & 17-year-old operators), on all Massachusetts waters in conjunction with the Mass. Environmental Police. Approved by National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) it will also cover the requirements to operate a vessel in most other states & many countries where boating safety education is mandatory including RI and CT. The Hanson-Milone Boater Safety Act, signed into Mass. Law January 8, will now require ALL Mass. motorboat operators to complete an approved Safe Boating Certificate course before April 1, 2026 for anyone born after 1/1/1998, and by April 1, 2028 for boaters born before 1/1/1998. Enforcement of the new law will begin on September 1, 2026. This course meets the future Mass. requirement. Most boating insurance companies offer a discount on premiums for successful completion of this course. Participants 16 years old and under must be accompanied, in person, by a registered parent/guardian.
