Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group for teens who are interested in volunteering and taking an active role in teen services and programs at Pequot Library. TAB meets monthly to help plan programs, give input on the Young Adult collection, and otherwise influence how the library serves teens. We also call on TAB members to assist with Pequot Library events and help with other library tasks as needed. You can earn community service hours for attending meetings, staffing events, and helping out around the library. Snacks are included! For students in grades 6-12.

Celebrate the founding of our nation with the annual Pequot Library 4th of July Bike Parade! Bring your festively decorated bike, scooter, or wagon to Five Corners in Southport Village and parade to the Great Lawn for some fun and games! Enjoy face-painting, sack races, a hula hoop contest, and crafts. Free Super Duper Weenie hot dogs. Ice cream and drinks available. Free and open to the public. All ages welcome. No registration required. This event is part of Pequot Library’s Treasure & Collections Summer Programs. Take a picture of your decorated bike at the parade and bring it to the Circulation Desk for a stamp on your card.

Join author and illustrator Raúl The Third as he discusses his book ¡Vamos! Let’s Go Read!. Meet Little Lobo and friends as they explore their library’s Libro Love Book Festival! From cookbook demonstrations and comics workshops to mask making and language classes, this library has something for everyone and Little Lobo can’t wait to show you. Raúl the Third uses his culture and his experience growing up on the US and Mexico border to inspire his art and his storytelling. Students will be encouraged to explore their world through a creative lens. A draw along is planned, drawing supplies and paper are recommended. Please note that we will be hosting Raúl the Third twice on this date, once in Spanish and in English. Be sure that you are registering for your preferred format. About the Author: Raúl The Third is a New York Times bestselling and three-time Pura Belpre award-winning illustrator, author, and artist living in Boston. His work centers around the contemporary Mexican-American experience and his memories of growing up in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
