The library is once again partnering with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to offer free tax preparation at the library.The VITA Tax Prep program will be held at the library on Saturdays by appointment only. IRS-trained volunteers will be available to prepare tax returns for individuals who made $67,000 or less, people with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns. To schedule your appointment, call 211, then select 3, then select 6. You will be able to call starting in mid-January. A national program, VITA provides free tax preparation services to low-to-moderate-income individuals and families. IRS-trained volunteers are certified to prepare simple tax returns, and screen customers for special tax credits.
