Mystical Abstract Landscape with Acrylic Paint Attendees will be looking at a variety of landscapes images that the instructor will provide. The next step will be choosing one image that resonates with them to focus on for a few minutes. While focusing on that selected image, the instructor will point out things to observe in the image like the composition, the negative space, color, shapes, etc. We will then put the image away and create the landscape from memory! This exercise will encourage you to become more confident painting abstractly and letting creativity flow, becoming mystical in the process. Mastering Gradients: 2-Day Oil Painting Workshop Dates: Wednesdays 11/5 and 11/12 | 5pm â 8pm (No makeup dates) $100 (3 hrs) Join Resident Artist Nickki Lewis-Parket for a two-day oil painting workshop designed to help you master the art of painting gradients. In Week 1, weâll review materials and explore various gradient styles before the instructor demonstrates key techniques. You will learn how different mediums can effect your gradients and how to layer them without becoming muddy. Individually we will assess your intended piece as to strategically plan your gradient. Youâll then work on applying gradients to your own piece. We will end with learning when and how to wrap up tips your work to allow color curation and bold layering. Her first symptom being vision lost in her left eye for nearly a year, although she regained her sight, the growing list of symptoms would make her bed bound for a few years thereafter. As destructive and world-ending at the time, this has come to be a gift, at times. With the death of her Grandmother during the pandemic, a mysterious yearning to create something in hopes of lessening her motherâs grief washed over her, thus she created her first painting.In the two and a half years since, Nickki has attended classes at Boca Raton Museum of Art School and became an Affiliate Artist at Arts Warehouse. During this short timespan, she has met head-on the differences in the world and visual perspectives she lived without for over three decades. It has been an uncomfortable walk towards a new unfounded nor dreamt vision of her life but as well as turmoil of finding praise and pride again after over a decade worth of battling her own body for autonomy. Her hopes are to grow without restrain and creatively be aloud in her experimentation, no longer a prisoner to what Multiple Sclerosis took from her.As a late bloomer to art and viewing the world in a new whole perspective, 32-years of this gift has been lost to me, it has also afforded me the freedom to dive deeper. Multiple Sclerosis gave me the gift of sensitive sight and the realization of how much disability and intimacy are so mutually exclusive in media all around us. Whilst, the historic male gaze presented women in a shallow, one dimensional constraint of limits. My lens and greater hope is showcasing the multitudes of disabilities and the courageous fight to find their sexuality and space despite the constant infantilization of disabled folks. For now it is the warmth and culture of BDSM through one disabled womanâs eye. What is Alcohol Ink? Alcohol ink is a fluid art. The inks are dye-based and extremely vibrant due to heavy pigmentation. The inks glide freely on non-porous surfaces and are easily manipulated with various techniques such as blowing, stamping or brushing. Another unique quality of alcohol ink is that the dried ink can be ârevivedâ when coming into contact with fresh ink or blending solution, allowing for further process of the design. Alcohol ink is a fun and unique medium, allowing for creative freedom. About the teaching artist: Debra L. Snyder, Fine Artist/Potter/Instructor I began my formal art education at Parsons School of Art & Design in New York and years later studied acrylic and watercolor painting with renowned artists at the Woodstock School of Art. We encountered strangeness and difference at every turn, but the sunlight, sky, and green nature of the subtropical culture always gave me warm inspiration. I have lived in South Florida for a decade now compressing and symbolizing this into color-rich cubes representing home, the strangeness of being different from my native country, and the process of adapting. Gradually, I developed a series of portraits exploring the signifiers of human nature. Humanoid figures are portrayed as childrenâs dolls with exaggerated heads and smaller torsos and are centered and anchored as if trying to root themselves into the frame. They reflect child-like vulnerability where the feelings of dread, loneliness, and weakness to the familiar/unfamiliar world are present. Dimensional crystalline shapes simultaneously create and break the form symbolizing complex units that both comprise and undermine identity. Color is bold and convincing, resembling that of nationality, yet it doesnât reveal the true origin of the figure. This 2-Day workshop teaches the basics of amigurumi creation, allowing students to explore the construction of 3D (fiber-filled) projects, whether for artistic purposes or to create adorable stuffed animals that delight children and adults alike! This hands-on workshop is perfect for beginners, intermediate, and experienced crocheters, as it will cover basic techniques needed for amigurumi creation (magic ring, single crochet, increases and decreases), as well as the entire creative process, from conceiving the shapes, to stuffing, simple sewing and finishing techniques. What is Amigurumi? Amigurumi is a Japanese word for the art of crocheting stuffed creatures. This technique allows you to determine volume and create shapes for the body parts (e.g., head, arms, and legs). A cute amigurumi comes to life when you sew all the parts together to complete your masterpiece. If youâve ever crocheted or want to learn, this is a great opportunity to explore a 3D project! Creating amigurumi is truly therapeutic! By the end of the course, youâll be finishing your handmade crochet plushie based on a beginner-friendly amigurumi pattern, and taking it home with lots of inspiration to start creating your own cuddly creatures! What You Will Do: â Learn the ancient art of wax carving, and the process behind lost wax metal casting â Design your ring according to your desired size and style â Utilize precision tools for shaping, carving, filing, texturing, and sanding. â Receive hands-on assistance from our instructor throughout the workshop. Once your wax ring model is complete, we will manage the subsequent stepâcasting it in solid sterling silver using the lost-wax process. Your finished ring will be professionally cleaned and tumble polished, and it will be shipped to you in 3-4 weeks. You Will Walk Away With: â A fully custom sterling silver ring designed by you. â New skills in jewelry design and wax carving About the teaching artist: Angela Bulich is an artist and jewelry designer, working under her studio name LSM Atelier. Her own approach implies an interest in simplicity, authenticity of materials, and form without excess. Her workshops invite students to explore the transformation of raw jewlery making materialsâcarving wax for subsequent castings, or manipulating metal and stone into pieces that express personal meaning. With a teaching style that is technically grounded, she guides students to develop their own creative language while gaining confidence in the technical craft. In her own practice she draws inspiration from the structures found in sculptural design. Honored with the 2024 Dina Baker Fund Grant from the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, Reyâs work has graced galleries across the globe. Recent solo shows include Bailey Contemporary Arts Gallery, Pompano Beach, FL, Tauni De Lessep Gallery at Palm Beach Atlantic University, West Palm Beach, FL, and the Hammond Hall Gallery, Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, AL. Her group exhibitions span the Baker Museum, Naples, FL, Flatiron Gallery, New York, NY, Studio 33, Spain, Art Brut Biennale, Netherlands, and Project Space Brut, South Korea. A dynamic lecturer, Rey has inspired students at Florida Gulf Coast University, New College, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. With nearly a decade of teaching drawing, painting, and creativity in Florida, Rey brings a wealth of experience and education to her work. Her background includes extensive undergraduate coursework in drawing, painting, 3-D design, performance art, and art history and graduate courses in film and computer art. She holds an MBA in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an A.A.S. in Interior Design from Parsons School of Design, an M.A. in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in Judaic Studies from the University at Albany.
