Cheers to one year!  Downtown Orlando’s dynamic arts and cultural organization, the Downtown Arts District, invites the community to celebrate the first anniversary of CityArts Café on Thursday, November 12, 2026.  The all-day celebration will feature complimentary coffee, pastries, live art, music, espresso martinis and the launch of a special giveaway.  Located adjacent to CityArts Orlando in the historic Rogers Kiene Building, CityArts Café has become a welcoming downtown destination for coffee, light bites and creativity, while supporting Orlando’s local arts community.   To celebrate its first birthday, CityArts Café is treating guests to a full day of festivities and specials starting with complimentary freshly brewed Lavazza coffee from 8am-10am.  Guests can also enjoy a free pastry from local favorite Olde Hearth Bread Company with any purchase from 8am-4pm.  Throughout the day, local artists will bring their creativity to life with live painting, adding an artistic flair to the anniversary events.   As the celebration continues, guests can raise a glass to one year with a special Espresso Martini Happy Hour from 4pm-6pm, offering Lavazza espresso martinis for a suggested donation of $10 (available at CityArts Café for the anniversary only), plus DJ entertainment.  The café will also kick off a special monthlong giveaway during the anniversary celebration, offering guests the chance to win a pair of round-trip Brightline tickets, while encouraging visitors to share their reviews of CityArts Café.   “CityArts Café was created to be more than just a place to grab a great cup of coffee,” says Downtown Arts District Executive Director Barbara Hartley.  “We wanted to create a welcoming space where people could connect, enjoy local art and experience the creativity that makes Downtown Orlando so special.  “It’s been wonderful to see that vision come to life over the past year, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way.  What better way to celebrate our first anniversary than by inviting the community to join us for a fun day filled with what we are most proud of – coffee and local art!”   CityArts Café proudly serves Lavazza coffee, including espresso-based beverages, drip coffee, tea and other refreshments, along with freshly baked pastries from Olde Hearth Bread Company.  The café also features artwork from Downtown Arts District’s rotating 3rd Thursday exhibitions, creating a unique atmosphere where visitors can enjoy coffee while connecting with local art.  A portion of café proceeds supports local artists and arts programming.

In need of whimsy? Want to play in mud? Look no further! Explore the medium of clay in a supportive and encouraging artistic environment. Follow along with a demo while we make pumpkin jars or design your very own idea.  Each workshop begins with an introduction to clay for those who have never participated in ceramics before. We’ll go over the limitations and techniques of making a pottery piece, then it’s your turn to play with clay! Workshop includes: All materials, tools, and firings Step by step tutorialHands on helpA fun experience for all ages! Children are welcome to attend when accompanied by a parent – both must purchase tickets. Allow 3-4 weeks for pieces to be finished. Each piece needs to dry slowly and completely before it’s ready for the first firing. All pieces are then glazed in clear glaze and fired once again. You will be contacted when your piece is ready for pickup from CityArts. If you cannot pick up your piece, it can be shipped to you – you will be responsible for all shipping and handling fees. Please keep in mind the delicate nature of ceramics. Sometimes pieces break or come apart in the kiln. In some cases, it may be able to be glued back together to be functional again. If a piece breaks beyond repair before pickup, you will be contacted to come to a resolution. Once your piece is picked up, its care is your responsibility. Years in the making, Calamity is a passion project marking the return of Puerto Rican artist Jaime Margary to the public art scene. A vision born from a near-death vow, Jaime turned the memory of a mountain sunset into a story-driven art series. Through various mediums, Jaime Margary portrays the journey of a black rabbit struggling to prevent her community’s downfall at the hands of a strange fox. The show’s cold, dream-like world channels a poignant narrative mirroring Earth’s crisis cycles. In keeping with previous exhibitions, Jaime includes mediums he is known for while introducing new ones. Frozen landscapes appear to emit light in his largest paintings yet, nightmarish creatures defy notions of beauty through clay sculptures and stippled illustrations, all joined by his meticulously detailed 3D models, which are then printed and painted by hand with acrylics. Uniting the series is Jaime’s new animated short, setting a cinematic tone for the entire show. Calamity opens November 19 at CityArts, 39 S Magnolia Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801.
