Workshop focusing on self-expression, growth, and relaxation â often with a meditative component. Our professional art facilitators offer creative instruction, appropriate for all artistic skill levels, in a relaxing and nurturing atmosphere. This program is open to those age 16 and older who are in need of reflective time, including caregivers, survivors, and those who have lost a loved one. Seats are limited; participants must signup in advance.PLEASE NOTE: The same project will be taught at both October workshops (10/16 & 10/30), so please only sign up for ONE of those dates. This class is designed for students who have previously taken Pamâs Beginning, Beginning Watercolor class, or those with some watercolor experience. Students will be introduced to various mediums to use in combination with watercolor, including pencil drawing and blending, pastels, ink, and Prismacolor pencils. The lessons in this series include painting baby rabbits, cats and dogs, a deer, a mouse, a donkey, a bird, a turtle and a frog. These lessons are from the book, âDraw and Paint Super Cute Animalsâ by Jane Maday. You will be encouraged to use your sketchpad because there is a fair amount of drawing during this class, but as usual Pam will have her light box available for tracing. Learn to draw what you see, rather than what you think you see. Objects are not just flat shaped- they have form, volume, and shadow, that is created by drawing in perspective. Perspective is an invention of the 15th Century Renaissance as a method of organizing forms in space. It creates depth and the illusion of 3-dimension on a 2-dimension surface. Its use creates a believable representation. This workshop focuses on that representational classical tradition through the use of perspective, proportion, and foreshortening. Through drawing natural objects in black on white, you will define their value gradations from lights to darks identifying form and true perspective. You will learn the visual elements of line and texture to create your final drawing. Reference material handouts will be provided and the instructor will offer demonstrations and individual guidance. There will be open discussions and dialogue. Questions and answers are welcome as you participate in open critiques. Join OMAM Guest Curator Ruth Grim on a guided visit to the Harn Museum of Art in Gainesville to enjoy their new exhibition, French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950, as well as the many other art treasures on view in this museum which is one of Floridaâs longstanding major arts institutions. After visiting the Harn Museum, we will venture south through Payneâs Prairie for a step into Old Florida at the historic towns of Cross Creek and Micanopy. Lunch will be available at The Yearling, a landmark restaurant in Central Florida on the land that is now the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings State Park. After experiencing the Florida this famous writer called home and which inspired her classic novel, we will stop in the charming small town of Micanopy which was the site for the filming of the 1991 movie âDoc Hollywood.â Micanopy lives up to its reputation as one of Floridaâs best small-town experiences complete with historic buildings, Spanish moss-draped live oaks, mansions, antique stores and more.Our chartered bus will depart from OMAM promptly at 8:30am and will return to OMAM by 5:30pm. The trip registration fee (non-refundable) is $45 Museum/Guild members and $55 non-members. Celebrate the upcoming Winter Solstice - the longest night of the year â with beautiful, unique felted lights in this introduction to illuminated felt. Winter solstice lights symbolize the return of longer, sunnier days and the turning of the seasons after the longest night of the year. Using the resist method of wet felting, wool, viscose, bamboo and tussah silk you will create your one-of-a-kind solstice light. Class tuition includes all felting materials, but students should bring one bath towel and two hand towels. A list of lamp base options will be provided and some will be available for sale during the workshop. If students own a light base theyâd like to use, please bring it. This workshop is appropriate for all levels of experience. What is a resist? It is a waterproof barrier between layers of wool used to create 3D shapes from a flat pattern.
