Stretching along the banks of France's longest river, this dynamic region is producing some of the most exciting, boundary-pushing wines on the planet right now- made by a new generation of passionate, minimal-intervention winemakers. Join us as our resident wine expert, Taylor Cotton, shares insights on wine from Loire Valley. In this class, we'll explore why sommeliers, wine bars, and in-the-know drinkers everywhere are obsessing over the Loire and what makes its natural wines so distinctly alive and electric. You'll get to know the grapes, subregions, and the maverick producers behind them.   Join us Saturday, May 16, from 6:00–8:30pm at Terrapin Beer Company for the Fourth Annual Athens’s Got Talent Presented by The Wild Rumpus, an all-ages community talent show benefiting The Cottage, Sexual Assault Center & Children’s Advocacy Center! This exciting evening will feature individuals and groups of all ages competing for both Judges’ Choice and Audience Choice awards. Our celebrity judges - Katie Collins, Cassie Chantel, LaDarius Thomas, and Wm Montu I Miller - will share feedback and select their top performers, but the audience gets a say, too! You can vote for your favorites, with $1 = 1 vote toward the Audience Choice winner. Doors open at 5pm; arrive early and enjoy a fun, family-friendly atmosphere before the show begins. We’ll have: Kids games and activities! A bouncy house! Delicious food trucks! A cash bar! An awesome silent auction! And plenty of space to relax—bring your lawn chairs and blankets! All proceeds from the event support The Cottage, helping us continue providing free and confidential services to child and adult survivors in our community. Sips & Salads: A Night of Greens, Grapes, and Great Company Cooking Class Chef Jake invites you to make new friends, to try new wines, and to learn practical steps to build a good salad- not just throw one together. We’ll teach you the thought process behind pairing greens, fruits, cheeses, and nuts and how your dressing choice ties it all together. You’ll leave with a framework for building a great salad with ingredients you have on hand in your fridge. We’ll be making two dressings: a classic Caesar and a from-scratch apple cider vinaigrette. You’ll see how the same green can taste completely different with just a simple change and why that matters when you’re starting from scratch. For the main event, we’re building a fresh apple and goat cheese salad together. You’ll help prep the ingredients, measure out the vinaigrette, and watch it come together.
