During our 19th annual Picnic in the Garden on Saturday, May 9, the Pecan Grove will be filled with pony rides, face painting, and yard games for all ages. Visitors will also enjoy the beautiful sounds of live music. Prizes will be awarded to those with the best picnic spreads. If you would like to participate in the picnic spread contest, pick up an entry number upon arrival for the picnic from 11am to 12pm. Winners will be announced at 12:30pm. Picnic in the Garden will begin at 11am and last until 2pm. Admission to the garden is free to anyone who brings a picnic basket and blanket.

We’re pleased to welcome Jim Thornton, Deputy Executive Director of the Georgia Municipal Association, as our featured guest. Former Mayor of LaGrange and past president of GMA, Jim now leads statewide advocacy efforts for Georgia’s cities and brings a firsthand look at what’s happening under the Gold Dome and how it impacts our local community. His presentation, “Challenges and Choices for Thriving Communities,” will explore the critical issues and opportunities shaping the future of cities and what they mean for communities like LaGrange. About 65 years after Fuller Jr. ended his apiary at Hills & Dales, Dick and Sydney Daniel and Zachary Taylor brought beehives back to the estate. In this workshop, Dick and Sydney will teach you the basics of beekeeping. Participants will be able to see an observation hive and even taste a little local honey. $45 per person. Pre-registration required by May 25. No refund for cancellations after May 26. Workshop fees include supplies and refreshments. Members may register for Spring workshops on January 2.
