Waʻa rotations (sailing and skills) with Kānehūnāmoku Voyaging Academy. Learning rotations are weather dependent and may change based on captains decision. Haumāna should wear MHPCS school shirt, swim wear, sun/rain gear, and wear slippers/crocs. A change of clothes, hat, and towel should also be packed. Students must bring a water bottle and home lunch.

Haumana will kilo at the tidepools and learn mo'olelo about Kaupo.

Papa 6 to KVA - Kualoa/Heeia

-Malama Honua Dri-fit with swim wear. -Footwear to get wet. Crocs or Tabis are highly recommended as students will be walking to the waʻa through the water. -Towel -Change of clothes -Water Bottle -Water resistant jacket in case of rain. -ai pono home lunch

Haumāna will participate in an immersive, hands-on learning experience at Kanehunamoku Voyaging Academy. The activity will include an introduction to traditional Hawaiian navigation, seamanship, and the cultural significance of voyaging canoes. Haumāna will learn about wayfinding using the sun, moon, stars, ocean swells, and natural elements as guides. They will also explore the history of Polynesian voyaging, teamwork aboard a canoe, and the importance of mālama ʻāina (caring for the land and sea). This activity is designed to strengthen cultural identity, foster environmental stewardship, and provide haumāna with valuable skills in leadership and collaboration.
