The purpose of this workshop is to give a broad introduction to risks and benefits of current and near-future AI systems as well as how AI researchers at top AI companies view the future of AI development. The inspector, Lila Mae Watson, is a black woman who inspects by intuition, as opposed to visual observation, and now she must prove her method was not at fault. This program of short films features Latino/a/e voices in flux: a girl selecting her quinceañera dress, a young boy saying goodbye to his neighborhood, voices on an immigration hotline, and adult siblings watching forgotten home movies for the first time. The filmmaker: Paloma Martinez, a non-fiction filmmaker and educator from Houston currently based in Chicago. She first picked up a camera while working as a labor organizer in Texas. Her work centers on a commitment to collaborative, community-based storytelling and an exploration of how the material conditions of Latino/a working-class life are mediated—often distorted—by dominant visual cultures. Paloma is an Assistant Professor in the department of Radio, TV and Film at Northwestern University. Este programa de cortometrajes presenta voces latines en constante cambio: una joven eligiendo su vestido de quinceañera, un niño despidiéndose de su barrio, voces en una línea telefónica de ayuda para inmigrantes y hermanos adultos viendo por primera vez videos caseros olvidados.
