Practice your early literacy skills with a Reading Buddy in English or Spanish! This program is meant for those who are learning their letter and rhyming sounds, beginning their reading journey or need practice reading aloud.  Participants will be introduced to CPL’s decodable book collection and paired with a teen volunteer to practice their reading or play phonological awareness (letter sound) games.  This program is part of Chicago Public Library's Lánzate hacia la lectura initiative. We’ll experiment with image transfers on canvas and small wood panels, then add fun textures with paints and markers.  You’ll discover new ways to mix images and take home your own one-of-a-kind artwork. All supplies will be provided for this program.  Samira Henninge is a Chicago-based visual artist whose work explores memory, storytelling, and transformation through textiles, printmaking, and sculpture. She is passionate about sharing approachable, hands-on art techniques and enjoys creating welcoming spaces where young people can experiment, play, and discover their own creative voices. This program is part of Teen Winter Challenge 2026.  Share what you created and submit your artwork to the 2026 Teen Winter Challenge!
