A meeting of the Board of Education of School District U-46 will begin at 5:30 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Educational Services Center, 355 East Chicago Street, Elgin, IL 60120, in Room 140. The Board of Education will move to Closed Session immediately following the Call to Order and Roll Call. The Board of Education will begin the Public Session at the conclusion of Closed Session. The meeting will livestream via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89932921330 as well as simultaneously on the District's YouTube Channel. Public comments may be made in person at the meeting. In order for us to prepare appropriately, please complete a Request to Speak form at https://forms.gle/7k1bmAPvsZnGVijK7 prior to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2025. If you are participating via Zoom, call 1-312-626-6799 promptly at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2025, for your public comment. The webinar ID needed when you call-in is 899 3292 1330. Please be sure to list your telephone number on the Request to Speak form as that will be the way to decipher your attendance. Those wishing to make a public comment must attend the meeting either via Zoom or in person at 355 East Chicago Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Public comments can also be submitted to Board@u-46.org. Please put "Public Comment" in the subject line so these can be summarized at the meeting and posted to BoardDocs. The U-46 Planetarium is primarily a classroom students visit throughout the school year for a standards-aligned, grade-level lesson on science and astronomy. On occasion, the building is opened to the general public for public sky shows, which last about an hour and include time observing the current night sky under the dome and a brief history of the building. A specific astronomical topic or theme is also explored. Two identical shows are presented at 4:30 p.m. and the other 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.  Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to darkness and time sitting, viewer discretion under age 5 is advised. Admission for the 2024-25 school year is free, but donations are accepted.The remaining public shows for the 2024-25 school year are being held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. The theme will be "History of the Elgin National Watch Company."The Planetarium is located at 312 Watch Street in Elgin, and there is free parking at Raymond Street and National Street, one block away.  Please visit https://www.u-46.org/planetarium for more information
