REGISTRATION NOW OPEN! A River Runs Through It! An Urban River Stewardship program is coming to North Chicago, starting June 3, 2025 through July 3, 2025.   This is a 5-week program hosted by One World Shared Future Community Labs (a 501(c)3 nonprofit).   A River Runs Through It! is an adult learning program and participants must be between the ages of 20-40 years of age. It offers a $600 stipend to those who successfully complete the course.  Hurry! Space is limited.  Feel friend to tell a friend about it.   Protecting Our Community’s Health and Ecosystems While Preparing for the Blue Workforce   Water is Life- Water scarcity is being felt across the US and abroad.   Freshwater flows from the Tri-cities, Waukegan, Zion and North Chicago, into Lake Michigan. The Tri-cities border the lake which is part of the Great Lakes system. The Great Lakes hold 20% of the World's Fresh Groundwater. This water is considered "Blue Gold" by many.    “It is not just about conservation          …it’s about (community) empowerment.“   Program Details:  Program participants meet 2 mornings per week (3 hours each session) for 5 weeks (30 total hours).  This is an adult learning course for participants ages 20 to 40 years of age.   Offered in 3 locations in 2025: Waukegan, Zion and North Chicago (Lake County, IL)     This in-person program includes both indoor and outdoor locations with activities designed to foster collaboration.  Participants engage as integral members of a cohort. Cohorts have a maximum of 10 members.   The program is a stipend-based program that offers English / Spanish language translation. Participants successfully completing the 30 hour program will receive a Certificate of Completion and stipends with a $600 maximum value.   Individuals with barriers to employment are welcome to apply.     If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to: [email protected]. BRIDGE TO BUSINESS FOR ENGINEERS IS A SIX-DAY NON-CREDIT PROGRAM GIVING EARLY-CAREER ENGINEERS BUSINESS FUNDAMENTALS REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL. The program is a unique collaboration between Marquette University’s College of Business Administration and the Opus College of Engineering. The faculty of both colleges, along with members of the local business community, have designed a curriculum focusing on key touch points between engineers and other functions across the business. Participants experience a mix of classroom and real-world learning opportunities to become more effective in their current and future roles. Who Should Attend? The program is designed for early-career engineers. This includes recent engineer graduates with a bachelor’s degree or those with up to five years’ experience.
