Katrina SotomayorCorrespondent DocentDaughters of the American Revolution Museumwill present Dining in Early America The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a charitable lineage society. All members can trace their ancestry to a person who served or provided material support to the colonies during the American Revolutionary War. The DAR’s focus is education, patriotism, and historical preservation. Correspondent Docents promote the DAR Museum and its collections by providing public outreach through programs offered to DAR chapters, community organizations, and schools. These programs cover a variety of topics, all connected to the museum’s collections and the early American home. Located in the national headquarters of the NSDAR, Memorial Hall in Washington, D.C., the DAR Museum features three gallery spaces with rotating exhibitions and thirty-one state period rooms furnished in the style of particular regions and time periods. Its collections include quilts, clocks, shoes, clothing, ceramics, glass, silver, toys, jewelry, cookware, and more. This program, Dining in Early America, explores five of the museum’s state period rooms, highlighting dining traditions from 1775 through the mid-1800s. Background: Katrina Sotomayor is an 11 year member, first vice regent of the Peoria Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and a Correspondent Docent of the DAR Museum. Business meeting & 2026 officer election will be held after the presentation.
