The Library is thrilled to once again be working with The North Pole this holiday season! Santa and the elves have so much to do this time of year, and we are happy to help by collecting and forwarding your letters.If you would like to send a letter to Santa, drop it off at the Main Library or in our outdoor book drop from November 24th through December 17th. We will get your letters to The North Pole, and then send back Santa’s personal response!Please be sure to include a return address with your letter. Santa, of course, knows where you live, but he can't share all of his magic with us.

Join us in the Assembly Room for a demonstration full of science facts and fun on Monday, December 29th, from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm.Liquid nitrogen is always a smash hit, and this demonstration highlights the physical properties of matter with lots of shockingly cool phenomena! Grade-schoolers will learn how to make observations and use those observations to classify materials as solid, liquid, or gas and see the energy changes associated with changes of state.

Eckhart Mobile Outreach Service (EMOS) deliveries are part of a flexible program that brings library materials to the homes of patrons, educators, and childcare providers. Deliveries are a free service provided by library staff and volunteers to people within DeKalb County.Deliveries occur every other Friday, and we'll pick up your previous materials when we drop off the new ones. [email protected] will be asked to fill out a short survey about what kinds of materials you would like to receive from Eckhart Public Library. This form can be printed, filled out in its entirety, and given to the driver. Grown folks and younger folks can spend time cooking together during our monthly program, Kitchen Chatter. Join us to try a recipe from another part of the world and have a chat. Kids who attend must be old enough to safely work with hot pots and baking sheets. Registration for each session is required so that we can accurately plan the amount of food needed. Registration will close the Friday before the program. Kitchen Chatter will meet on the first Monday of the month in the Activity Room on the lower level of the Main Library from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.On Monday, January 5th, we'll make Macque Choux and Cajun Cornbread!We can't wait to cook (and chat) with you!

It is an opportunity to gather and share time together.Family Storytime is held in the Children's Department under the big balloon painting on Tuesdays at 6:15 pm and on Wednesdays at 10:45 am.We will read a story based on a theme, and have songs and activities designed to encourage mental development and socio-emotional learning. It is a great opportunity for children to interact with their peers!
