Eckhart Public Library will host IdentoGO Digital Fingerprinting Services in the Eckhart Room from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm every Tuesday. Their last appointment can be scheduled no later than 3:15 pm.The State of Indiana contracts with IDEMIA, which operates IdentoGO, to provide these services to area residents. Appointments must be made at www.identogo.com. Fees will be listed when scheduling and vary depending on which service is requested.

Murder and Merlot is a true crime book club that meets the second Tuesday of every month at Mimi's Retreat. Join us for a glass and a discussion of classic and modern works of true crime. The books we read will be selected by members.All attendees must be over 21 and have valid ID.On June 9th, we'll discuss Devil in the White City by Erik Larson.A description of Devil in the White City from Penguin Random House:Combining meticulous research with nail-biting storytelling, Erik Larson has crafted a narrative with all the wonder of newly discovered history and the thrills of the best fiction.Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds—a torture palace complete with dissection table, gas chamber, and 3,000-degree crematorium.Burnham overcame tremendous obstacles and tragedies as he organized the talents of Frederick Law Olmsted, Charles McKim, Louis Sullivan, and others to transform swampy Jackson Park into the White City, while Holmes used the attraction of the great fair and his own satanic charms to lure scores of young women to their deaths. What makes the story all the more chilling is that Holmes really lived, walking the grounds of that dream city by the lake.The Devil in the White City draws the reader into the enchantment of the Guilded [sic] Age, made all the more appealing by a supporting cast of real-life characters, including Buffalo Bill, Theodore Dreiser, Susan B. Anthony, Thomas Edison, Archduke Francis Ferdinand, and others. Did you know that the Friends of EPL raise money to help fund the programming and services of Eckhart Public Library? All of their proceeds go towards supporting the library.The Friends of Eckhart Public Library will hold a book and media sale at the Willennar Administrative Annex on the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 am - 2:30 pm. The early bird hour from 9:00 - 10:00 am will be for Friends of EPL members only. Friends of EPL memberships will be available at the door.Books will be priced at $1.00 for hardcovers and $.50 for paperbacks.This is a wonderful opportunity to get some great deals on books, movies, music, and more--all while supporting the library.

Eckhart Mobile Outreach Service (EMOS) deliveries are part of a flexible program that brings library materials to the homes of patrons, educators, and childcare providers. Deliveries are a free service provided by library staff and volunteers to people within DeKalb County.Deliveries occur every other Friday, and we'll pick up your previous materials when we drop off the new ones. To apply, visit epl.lib.in.us/emos.If you are unable to apply online you can also contact us by phone or email:260-925-2414 ext. [email protected] will be asked to fill out a short survey about what kinds of materials you would like to receive from Eckhart Public Library. This form can be printed, filled out in its entirety, and given to the driver.
