Dates: June 22nd July 6 July 20Time: 5:30 PM â 6:30 PMHelp create the spaces where the magic happens. The Lotus Festival doesnât just appear overnight. It is imagined, designed, built, and brought to life by a community of volunteers. The Venue Committee helps transform festival spaces into welcoming places for connection, creativity, and cultural celebration. As a member of the Venue Committee, you can expect to: ⨠Help design and create festival signage⨠Assist with decorating and beautifying festival spaces⨠Support venue setup before the festival⨠Help with teardown after the festival⨠Collaborate with a team of creative and community-minded volunteers⨠Attend committee meetings and contribute ideas throughout the summer No special experience is required, just a willingness to pitch in, work as part of a team, and help create an incredible festival experience for thousands of attendees. This committee is hands-on. Some volunteers enjoy the creative design side, while others enjoy building, organizing, moving materials, and making sure everything comes together smoothly. Every role matters. Whether youâre an artist, builder, painter, musician, costume maker, volunteer, storyteller, lantern carrier, or just someone who wants to make something beautiful with other people⌠thereâs a place for you here. This year weâll gather for:⨠Open conversations about arts in the community⨠Planning and building the Lotus Fest Parade⨠Arts Village activations and interactive experiences⨠Weekly collaborative art projects we create together The major collaborative project led by KP this season will be the Lanterns of Luminaria, helping light the path of Lotus Fest weekend with community-made lanterns, movement, and glowing art. Weâll also host a community Flag Project with guest leaders and additional collaborative builds throughout the season. No pressure. No experience required. Come weekly, check in monthly, or volunteer once. Truly all hands on deck are welcome and needed. Friday October 2nd from 6PM â 10PMSaturday October 3rd from 6PM â 10PMKirkwood on the Square (Between College Ave and Walnut)The Arts Village is where creativity comes to life during the festival weekend. Wander through a vibrant evening atmosphere filled with live art demonstrations, interactive activities, local and regional artists, and a Night Bazaar celebrating handmade work, creativity, and community. Discover new artists, try your hand at creative experiences, and enjoy the energy of the festival after dark. During the festival-wide break at 8:30 PM Friday evening, enjoy a special Taste of the IU Drumline bringing rhythm and excitement to the heart of downtown. Then on Saturday evening, the 2026 Parade returns, lighting up the streets with music, movement, and celebration once again. The Arts Village is alive from 6 PM â 10 PM on Friday, October 2nd and Saturday, October 3rd, 2026. This is a free event to attend.
