Join us for First Chapter Fridays! We will read the first few chapters of a different book every month and then do fun activities based on that book! Participants will have an opportunity to check out the book or place a hold on it at the end of the Program. This month's book is "The Tale of Despereaux" by Kate DiCamillo. Welcome to the story of Despereaux Tilling, a mouse who is in love with music, stories, and a princess named Pea. It is also the story of a rat called Roscuro, who lives in the darkness and covets a world filled with light. And it is the story of Miggery Sow, a slow-witted serving girl who harbors a simple, impossible wish. These three characters are about to embark on a journey that will lead them down into a horrible dungeon, up into a glittering castle, and, ultimately, into each other's lives.

Hey kids! Woot!  Football fans everywhere have been looking forward to this day for months!  It's Super Bowl LX (that's 60 in Roman numerals) and maybe we can't fly out and enjoy all the fun in sunny Santa Clara, California. We can definitely have plenty of football-themed fun right here!But don't worry: You don't have to be a football expert to participate.  You don't even have to be a fan, really.  Just join us for some cool games, crafts, and snacks.  And feel free to wear your favorite football jersey or T-shirt.  (Be sure to tell your folks we'll get you home in plenty of time to watch the Super Bowl tonight!)Can't wait to see you there!This program is for school-age kids in grades K-5, ages 6-11.  Registration is required.

Kids ages 5 to 11 can bring along a favorite book and read aloud to some of the BEST listeners around:  The sweet and cuddly therapy pets from Love on a Leash!Registration is required.  Kids must check in at the Children's Desk the evening of the event and sign up for a 20 minute time slot.  They will then spend a few minutes reading with each of the dogs while also learning a little about what therapy pets do!
