Saturday, June 14: 9 a.m.–12:30 p.m.  Did you know that you can find ice cream recipes dating back to 1830s cookery books and beyond? Discover those receipts with us and get your ice cream cranking arm ready as we try out some of these historical recipes for both familiar and more unusual flavors (we’ll pass on oyster ice cream, thank you). With this class, you will learn three different techniques: a period sabotiere, a more modern hand-cranked ice cream and ice cream in a bag. Through process and history, you will understand how ice cream transformed into being the country’s favorite dessert. Learn more about our historic classes. This class is for individuals ages 12+. She loves researching old cookbooks and receipts (recipes) and solving the limited information given to then be able to recreate the recipe for work at Conner Prairie as well as at home. Sarah also has a passion for textiles and domestic skills. She enjoys spinning, weaving, dyeing, bobbin lace, broom making, chair seating and making floor cloths, to name a few of her interests. She is a lifelong-learner always looking for new skills.

Forest Therapy is a guided walk that invites participants to slow down and experience nature spaces in new ways. She works with the Education Team to facilitate and lead nature-based play and learning activities for guests. Michelle is a certified Forest Therapy Guide, and has been facilitating Forest Bathing, Forest Therapy, and Mindful Birding experiences since 2023. She loves riding her bike, birding, hiking, cooking, reading, playing board games with her family, the color green, and (of course) being outside.
