Join us in the Miller Auditorium on May 8, at 7PM, to hear the Banana Slug String Band take the mainstage! This concert is brought to you by the Elkhart River Restoration Association. Doug Dirt, Airy Larry, Marine Mark, and Solar Steve are the Real Deal…..Impassioned musicians, songwriters, performers, educators, and eco-warriors! With guitars, voices, crazy characters, and an extraordinary ability to connect with children and adults…. they change the world, one person at a time! The Banana Slug String Band has been playing music for kids for over 30 years. Their Live show is legendary, and include characters such as; the Professor, Doug the Drop, Peter the Penguin, Mr. Dirt the puppet, Louie the Crab, and Big Red, the talking Redwood Tree. These characters come out in full body costume to the amazement of all. The songs are all original, and played in a variety of catchy musical styles…from Folk to Blues to reggae, Rock and Roll and Rap. The songs are educational, funny and deeply moving. Kids come away, inspired, and ready to learn more about the Earth.

Dear Employers and Community Members, Horizon Education Alliance will be supporting Fairfield's efforts in offering Mock Interviews for their 10th grade students, which allows them interview experience and prepares students for the future workforce. We are reaching out to the the Chamber Members to inquire if you or a co-worker would be available to help with our upcoming event: What: Mock Interview Event When: Friday, May 9th  (8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. or 11:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m. or ALL DAY) Where: Fairfield High School  Who: Business Partners & Community Members & Fairfield 10th grade students With your assistance, we hope to run about 160 students through the Mock Interview process, with each student participating in two interviews. This experience will be a significant and beneficial opportunity for the Fairfield students participating! Not only will this event fulfill a graduation requirement, but it is also essential in preparing them for life after graduation. After several days of interview preparation by the students, your time interviewing our students will be the culmination. Our goal is for the student to experience what it feels like to interview versus just watching videos or reading about it. We will furnish a list of interview questions and suggestions for you to use during the interview process. You will NOT need to prepare anything before the event!  If you are interested in helping us, please complete THIS EASY FORM. We will contact you with more information as the date gets closer. Small Business Owner's Roundtable. Leadership can be lonely. Come join this peer group to share challenges and ideas and find new opportunities for growth   SCORE Mentors of Greater Elkhart County is hosting a Business Owners Roundtable that meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month at 4pm. With 10-12 small-business owners from non-competing industries, it encourages learning and networking in a respectful and collaborative environment. The discussions are conducted in an open semi-structured format. The agenda is set by members. The open discussions are amongst the members. SCORE Mentors, or an occasional guest speaker, may sometimes participate to enrich the conversation.   The Roundtable is facilitated by SCORE Volunteer Dane Willman with support from other SCORE Mentors. Dane is a seasoned Small Business owner with years of experience in roundtable discussions.    Who should attend?  Small Business owners or CEOs of all types of small businesses, with a minimum of six months of revenue, are welcome.
