Community Compass Magazine provides an in-depth look at the originality, inspiration and professionalism of the members of the Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce. Advertising in this publication is an advantage to Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce Members. Published since 2024 by the Chamber, more than 20,000 copies are direct-mailed to households and businesses in the Greater Portage Area (Portage and South Haven). Additional publications are distributed to area hotels, restaurants, doctor's offices and more! This is a 36-page, full-color magazine, that will be published four times in 2025. Mark your calendars to get the holiday season started with a night of laughs, good food and great drinks on November 21st! Peter Berman - Headliner Peter Berman is an internationally-touring headliner who has been seen on MTV, VH1, Star Search and his own Comedy Central Presents special. He was the guest host on NBC's Friday Night. Berman also appeared on Comedy Centrals international television series The World Stands Up, and has won over audiences in England, Ireland, Australia, The Netherlands, Scotland and our troops in Afghanistan. Katie Meiners - Feature Act Katie Meiners is a funny and energetic stand-up comic who performs throughout the Midwest. She’s a graduate of The Second City Comedy Writing Program as well as The University of Michigan. She incorporates her love of jokes and her less than supervised childhood experiences into her act. Katie won the inaugural Chicago Comedy Championship and the Smoke Break Comedy Competition. Nick Gaza - Opening Act Nick Gaza is a funny, sick and often twisted individual. His act is a mixture of hilarious true stories and things we can only hope aren't true. Nick makes fun of everyone: the audience, himself, and anyone who gets in his sights. His comedy knows no limits, so be warned! But if you are the kind of person who laughs at things you know you shouldn't,  then Nick's comedy show is something you must see. Ages 18+

VFW Post 7760 is putting on a new annual event called "A Night with the Vets" on November 22nd, at the American Legion Post 260 Hall located at 5075 Mulberry Ave, in Portage, Indiana. Entry will cost $10, and will include free food and beer located inside the event, 50/50 drawings, a Texas Hold'em Poker tourney, blackjack, tipboards, a silent auction, and much more. There is also a reverse raffle happening, and there are still a few tickets available for $25 each. This includes entry to the event, and a chance to win $1000. Come out the week before Thanksgiving and celebrate with the community before the Christmas-time crunch.  Regale with heroes in the community, win some stocking stuffers, and look forward to having a great time! For those businesses that donate to the silent auction, your entry will be waived.

Turkey Trot includes both a FREE 1K Kids non-competitive fun run and a competitive 5K, professionally-timed race offered on Thanksgiving morning. All proceeds from the entry fees go towards our Annual Campaign. The Portage Township YMCA’s mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for ALL. Our campaign helps provide financial assistance to individuals and families in our community. The money raised helps ensure our friends and neighbors have access to programs and services that provide food, shelter, chronic disease management, education, and physical activity. 5K Race features includes a *Long Sleeve event shirt and *Custom Finisher Medal Awards will be presented for each race as follows:  Top Overall Male & Female, Top Masters Male & Female, Top 3 Male and Female in the following age groups: 4-7,8-10, 11-14,15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 & up *free child watch is available during the race. Turkey Trot shirt is included in 5K race fee only. Shirts are guaranteed for registrants thru 11/1/2025. Additional shirts will be available for purchase until 11/1/2025. – Packet Pickup is on November 26th from 2pm-7pm OR on race day beginning at 7AM – Couch to Course Training group available at check out. Group will meet for 8 weeks on Saturdays, 8:00-9:00 am at the YMCA. First Training Day October 4,2025.
