Join us as we continue our year long collaboration with the Hearst Center encouraging creative engagement with our outdoor spaces! What cycles do you attend to each year? Join the facilitators of the âStories of the Seasonsâ project (Amie Adams, Hannah Benson, Mariana Castro AzpĂ­roz, Dr. Linda Shenk, and Piper Wood) to engage in a hands-on timekeeping workshop. Participants will tap into personal experience, collective knowledge, and the rhythms of the earth to begin a one-of-a-kind seasonal calendar. Join us as we continue our year long collaboration with the Hearst Center encouraging creative engagement with our outdoor spaces! Learn more about Nature Quest and create your own journal to use throughout the year. CFPL Co-Lab Adults 18+ Participants will be guided on a personal Nature Quest by selecting from a series of monthly workshops and open studio classes (locations will be shared between the Hearst and the Library) hosted by artists and field experts throughout the seasons. Open studio sessions will encourage participants to create and reflect in personal journals using a variety of prompts from How To Be An Explorer of the World by Keri Smith (each participant will receive a free copy while supplies last) with social time geared towards cultivating a sense of community. Materials will be provided. As the program ends upon one year of seasonal change, all participants will be invited to show their work at the Hearst and Cedar Falls Library. Made possible by the Cedar Falls Community Foundation: Kathryn Ray Fund for use by the Library.

**NOTE:  This program (originally scheduled for 11/1 in the Co-Lab) will now take place on 11/8 in the Meeting Room Folded books, sometimes referred to as book sculptures, are created by the artistic folding of book pages to make visible images or patterns on the fore edge of a book.  Through this technique, old and unwanted books are repurposed into fresh pieces of art!  Did you miss the first two classes and still want to give it a try? Did you attend a class, love it, and are ready for a new pattern to master?  Adult participants of any experience or skill level are welcome to attend this drop-in session in the Meeting Room!  No formal instruction will be provided, but various patterns and supplies will be available.  Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins are welcome for as long as supplies last.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Cedar Falls Public Library
