Community Nature Quest Kick Off Event Join us as we kick off our year long collaboration with the Hearst Center encouraging creative engagement with our outdoor spaces! Learn more about Nature Quest and create your own journal to use throughout the year. May 6, CF Community Center  Adults 18+ Participants will be guided on a personal Nature Quest by selecting from a series of monthly workshops and open studio classes (locations will be shared between the Hearst and the Library) hosted by artists and field experts throughout the seasons. Open studio sessions will encourage participants to create and reflect in personal journals using a variety of prompts from How To Be An Explorer of the World by Keri Smith (each participant will receive a free copy while supplies last) with social time geared towards cultivating a sense of community. Materials will be provided. As the program ends upon one year of seasonal change, all participants will be invited to show their work at the Hearst and Cedar Falls Library. Made possible by the Cedar Falls Community Foundation: Kathryn Ray Fund for use by the Library.

Teen Room Join us for "Midweek Magic," a program that turns the Teen Room into a place to craft, create, and chill every Wednesday! Each week, teens will get the opportunity to make a craft, enjoy a slushy or seasonal drink, or engage in some other way to relax in the middle of a long week of school.  Drop-in style, so come when you can and stay for however long youâd like.  Come ready to create, unwind, and enjoy your midweek to the fullest! Storytime Corner of Youth Department. Do you love graphic novels? If so, come join our Junior Graphic Novel Book Club! Come discuss a little bit about the book, do a fun activity based on the graphic novel we read that month, and meet kids who share this interest with you! In 2025, we will be holding this club every other month in January, March, and May. Every meeting will be held in the Storytime Corner of the Youth Department. May's book pick is Bring Your Own Graphic Novel. This means kids can bring a graphic novel of their choice to discuss.  Sometimes asking questions is hard, especially if the questions you want to ask have anything to do with LGBTQ+ experiences, lives, and culture. If you have any "queeries," then this program is for you!Join us at the Cedar Falls Public Library for "Queeries" on the second Monday of each month (starting on January 13, 2025 from 6:00-7:30pm) to hear from guest speakers, take part in LGBTQ+ discussion, and to reinforce community and fellowship throughout the Cedar Valley and beyond.This program is aimed towards ages 13 and up, but people of any age are welcome to attend. That being said, some of the material covered will be challenging--even for adult discussion--and conversation about said material is expected to be respectful, constructive, and informative. This month, bring your favorite LGBTQ+ book (characters, author, anything LGBTQ+ related) for a book discussion night! Be sure to bring any discussion questions or any other recommendations for your fellow attendees!
