It's time to celebrate the Gift of Giving!  This December, join us on the first 3 Saturdays of the month for some handmade fun centered around holiday gift-giving! Join us in the Co-lab on December 20th to decorate an eco-friendly, reusable gift bag!  All materials will be provided for you to decorate your own drawstring bag, which can be used in place of traditional giftwrap or makes a great gift all by itself! This program is intended for adults and families.  All materials will be provided.  Acrylic paint and ink can stain clothing, so please dress accordingly.  Register to drop-in anytime during either the morning (9:30-11:30AM) or afternoon (2-4PM) session.  Walk-ins are welcome as long as supplies last! Join us as we continue our year long collaboration with the Hearst Center encouraging creative engagement with our outdoor spaces! Learn more about Nature Quest and create your own journal to use throughout the year. CFPL Co-Lab Adults 18+ Registration required  Join artist Heather Steckler to learn about making handmade paper using prairie plants! Participants will explore how plant fibers are processed to become pulp and get hands-on experience pulling their own sheets of paper. They will also have the opportunity to decorate their handmade papers by embedding and collaging dried prairie plants. All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary. Participants are welcome to bring their own dried plant materials to incorporate into their paper if they wish. As the program ends upon one year of seasonal change, all participants will be invited to show their work at the Hearst and Cedar Falls Library. Made possible by the Cedar Falls Community Foundation: Kathryn Ray Fund for use by the Library.

Join us as we continue our year long collaboration with the Hearst Center encouraging creative engagement with our outdoor spaces! Learn more about Nature Quest and create your own journal to use throughout the year. CFPL Co-Lab Adults 18+ Participants will be guided on a personal Nature Quest by selecting from a series of monthly workshops and open studio classes (locations will be shared between the Hearst and the Library) hosted by artists and field experts throughout the seasons. Open studio sessions will encourage participants to create and reflect in personal journals using a variety of prompts from How To Be An Explorer of the World by Keri Smith (each participant will receive a free copy while supplies last) with social time geared towards cultivating a sense of community. Materials will be provided. As the program ends upon one year of seasonal change, all participants will be invited to show their work at the Hearst and Cedar Falls Library. Made possible by the Cedar Falls Community Foundation: Kathryn Ray Fund for use by the Library.
